The Night Raven is okay. I was anticipating it's unveiling for a very, very long time. It could have been much better. What surprised me the most, is the fact that it is not as sleek as the original, and for a futuristic G.I. Joe line, I'd imagine it would be sleeker. The smaller size is disappointing too, but not as much as the blockier aesthetics.
If it is indeed accurate to the movie version, than my issue is primarily with the redesign in the movie. With that said, this did not end up anywhere near as bad as it could have. The worst case scenario in my mind would have been to gimmick it out and sacrifice proportions, much like the VVV Thunderwing. Thankfully, that didn't happen here. I'm also impressed with the long landing gear. Usually joe/cobra jet toys have short, unrealistic landing gear. Hasbro does have the vintage mold though, so maybe there is some hope that we get the original back when the modern era line returns. While I was expecting a retool of the original, or a new version but much sleeker, I am still buying this. It's not horrible, could have been much better, but it is a decent jet for the Cobra air force. |

Night Raven is missing a few things. Unless the picture doesn't show all the features. It looks smaller than the original.
Does anyone remember the jingle. Cobra Raven, Corbra Raven, there's no haven from the Cobra Raven. Two jet engines, a drop down cockpit, a hidden bomb port, now you know it's got twin rear guns and a one-man drone and it's on the look-out for GI-JOE!!!! |

I suspect there might indeed be some features that we're not seeing in that pic. Like maybe a bomb port or possibly some kind of "UAV" type thing that it can "launch" as a nod to the old drone.
Not trying to get anybody's hopes up, but I think there might be more to that vehicle than first meets the eye. |

Looks like Hasbro put a little more emphasis on playability than collectibility - one step above Playskool.
>>>>>>>>> Yes my thoughts exactly .. Hasbro doesn't really pay much attention to the collector market ,just putting out stuff for kids to play with . At least Mattel has recognised this and is offering exclusives for the collectors market .

the most important part about these toys is my kids are going to go nuts over them. I'm not complaining because after all is said and done my kids are going to be the ones to play with these (with me of course). I'm just excited that there are new Joes for my kids to grow up playing with, because in the end toys were meant to be played with, just look at toy story 2 and how insane the prospecor was because he was MIB.

Wow they actually improved the Night Raven. It was cool in the first pace, but this one look like a cross between the old one and the Mig - 31 from the film Firefox (1982)

You worked in a toy store.
We all know toy stores are going down the tubes, and were doing so well before this economic crisis hit the US/World. Your experiences in a specialty toy store are not really reflective of the overall sales of toys in the US. You have no way of predicting how kids and casual buyers will react to the movie line until it's on shelves. Every parent in the country isn't going to stop buying toys this year, recession or not. Some toys will sell, and some won't, and while overall sales of toys may end up being "down" for the year, both the retailers and the manufacturers have people working for them that are smart enough to note what role the economy plays in the lagging sales. You're trying to force your opinion out there as the opinion everyone in America will have, and that's nonsense. For all we know, the Joe toys will be the runaway hit of the year. It could go either way at this point (I suspect the line will overall be successful, though perhaps not a record-shattering hit). "Fan" reaction is divided, and even if it were universally negative it would not be a clear indicator of the success or failure of the line. Unless you're just trying to say that ALL toys will be lingering on shelves this year. If so, then fine. If it's Joe specifically, then what really makes you think that? Especially since Indiana Jones, unlike G.I. Joe, was a line that had NO presence on shelves prior to the movie year, far less "kid friendly" and "kid enticing" character selection, and far less "aggressive" design overall? You're comparing apples and oranges my friend. Or at the very least apples and pears. Toy store... come on buddy.

You know....
I find it really funny that people will complain about the "angular" Night Raven looking like it wouldn't fly properly.... But happily accept the open/uncovered cockpits and turrets of a multitude of vehicles in the old line just fine. Seriously...you're worried that the movie Raven looks like it won't fly but think that a HISS Tank would work really great on a "real world" battlefield? In short, if you're complaining about things not being "classic" enough and trying to complain that the new stuff doesn't look "realistic" enough...you're really being pretty darn hypocritical. I love how no one can state their personal observations and opinions without someone resorting to name calling. Really people can no one offer up their observations without the resident baiters coming out?
