Now if someone could explain why there was no DESTRO card in the Joe set, we can BOTH sleep easy.

I guess it's better than Cool Dude. I THINK the prevailing notion was that, as CC's hood was evocative of the Klan (which I disagree with) and Gung Ho looks like a "Village Person" (just use the Joe vs Cobra version with the t-shirt!), Roadblock, because in the cartoons he rhymed, was somehow a stereotype. Just an example of Hollywood not really fully grasping the character.

These cards actually give me way more hope for this movie, although I admit I did throw out all expectations long ago. I like my entertainment to be fun. Stalker is just now named Ripcord right? Obviously this is not supposed to be the Ripcord from the comics...his card sounds like Stalker to me. Not a fan of the Cobra Viper or the Doctor but the other cards actually seem pretty faithful to the characters. Destro's card is a big relief to me. Breaker does seem like a combo of several Joe communications officers. All in all not bad, I actually have some hope, albeit it's a small grain of hope but that is more than I had before.

You work for Hasbro?
Sounds to me like you're making an educated asuumption. You sure seem hot to discredit others' ideas. Sarcasm makes you awesome. Chill out. There are different levels at which a trademark can be applied. For example, DC owns Batman. Warner Brothers owns DC. However, back in the early 90's when Batman Returns was released, they had licensed the name to a specific trading card company. As a result, when DC released their UNIVERSE trading cards, they had NO Batman cards included in the set, which encompassed the ENTIRE DCU because the other company, TOPPS iirc, had the exclusive rights to put Batman on a trading card for the period in question. These things get complicated. Not so clear as one might assume. if Hasbro has trademarked the name Roadblock, and they clearly have, they are the owners and are the ones who would be the ones licensing it out, not prevented from using it. if they license out a Joe movie or comic or any other merchandise, they can prevent the use of the name, but that wouldn't be Hasbro having a problem with the name, it would be the licensee having a problem with it. big difference between the two. part of the licensing agreement DC had with Topps provided Topps with exclusive rights to a Batman trading card, so DC couldn't allow another company (or themselves) use it for a card series. again, that is a licensing issue, not a trademark issue (in the sense you want to make it). so, even if Hasbro is preventing Paramount or IDW from using the Roadblock name, that in no way is Hasbro having a problem with the trademark which they clearly have, or else we wouldn't be getting so many Roadblock. hence, my educated assumption. I'm really digging the Cobra Viper, very menacing and also reminds me of the Range Viper. The doctor looks kind of cool but they are really teasing us with Zartan. But I gather Zartan will be a cool reveal during the movie.
