Seriously, as distant from the 80's look as all of these are, this is about as good as we can hope for from Hollywood. (Though I'm reserving judegement on Doctor Commander's battle mask until it's properly revealed). As I've said before, I was a follower of the TF movie from it's announcement, and I've followed GI Joe movie info from the announcement of a WB movie in '89 to the Larry Kassanof attempt in the mid nineties to now. I am a professed hater of the Transformers Movie. It was entertaining and watchable and utterly soulless. The only Transformers character that made the transition to screen was Optimus Prime. The rest were basically unidentifiable. This looks much more faithful, by miles, than the TF movie. Maybe even more than the X-Men movies. It's not exactly what I wanted to see, but it has my discerning stamp of "Oh hell yes, bring it on" on it. The only thing that would have fully satisfied me would have been a faithful translation of the Hama comics from the '80s and Cobra Soldiers and Vipers in blue with silver masks and kerchiefs with Fritz-helmets. And a hooded or Silver-faced CC. Didn't happen. Snake Eyes looks more like himself than any comic character I've seen on screen save for Iron Man, Spidey and the Hulk. Scarlett has a crossbow. The essence of the characters is there.

I think it would depend on how it was handled. If it was high drama or slapstick comedy, it would probably work. WIth this Star Wars meets James Bond approach, you may be right.

The accelerator suits function in a similar manner to the Sigma suits.

Cool looking at the pictures it look like there taking Gi Joe seriously and not making a "Live Action Cartoon" or a campy comic book movie not that I'm say the comics where campy, but there where a few that were

Streetfield, any more info you would like to dump on the Transformers stuff would be appreciated by me.
You could even dump it on the thread I started on the TF site here: TF2 Spoilers and Devastator Tidbit - TFW2005 - The 2005 Boards |

Now that I think of it, the suit on Zartan makes sense. His original look would probably be pretty retarded in a movie, but I hope he at least puts on the hood and his pupils turn white.

Also, it's important to remember that this is an "origin movie". The characters that are underwhelming will likely (undoubtedly) undergo changes along the way and will probably end up in more recognizable forms by the end of the movie, and even moreso in sequels.
Anyone who doubts there will be sequels can start placing their bets now. I like easy money.
