Can't agree with anyone who did buy these things from Hasbro based on how they did it. Horrible business practice on their part.
Post from another forum: "Let's be honest here. We have done this to ourselves. I personally don't care about PDD. But I know many of you do. I also know many of you are willing to spend hundreds of dollars to purchase one so you can be part of the "I have a PDD club." Which is all fine and dandy with me. Spend your money on whatever you want. But don't be surprised when Hasbro finally figures out PDD is a coveted figure and decides to get in on the fun. Hasbro is a for profit organization. Why not sell PDD for $200? Furthermore how many scalpers among us are doing exactly the same thing?" My response: SO because the yellow Stalker variation goes for $75-100, Hasbro should produce more and sell them for that price as opposed to the regularly priced Green Stalker. Poor Poor business practice and serious lack of ethics here |

There is no "lack of ethics" involved, and there's no legitimate reason to complain about this. You either want one and you place an order, or you don't want one and you go on about your business. Hasbro is a publically traded corporation, and their responsibility is to earn a profit for the shareholders who have chosen to invest in the company, not to adult toy collectors with a completely arbitrary sense of what is "right" and "wrong" in a hobby. Sooner or later, people just need to accept that some items are going to be limited and expensive, and you won't be able to afford every little thing you want.
Whether or not you "agree" with how other people spend their money doesn't amount to much at all. |

It's a two edge sword collecting these items because Hasbro can easily decide to reproduce this action figure, which would lower the value of this figure. Hence, the potential conflict of interests. Other than that, I don't see any other ethical issues. Still, I bought the figure for the pleasure of having it for my collection. It was pretty hefty though.

The point is that they either withheld these figures or produced more (most likely held) knowing that they could make more money off of them by having them graded by a company who is by their own definition "the action figure authority"
They can make a ton of money by making more Yellow Stalkers and having them graded so why don't they? From what other company have you ever heard of them doing such a thing? This whole PDD fiasco has been a slippery slope since day one and Hasbro has decided to take advantage of their customers. I by no means am saying that people who can afford to buy them shouldn't (and I CAN but I choose not to because of the shadiness of the whole deal) but for a company who claims that the fan base for GI Joe can't support the line alone, this smacks in the face of us who HAVE supported them through the various incarnations. |

Now we are talking business. When I was in college I dated a girl who was griping one day because her grandmother gave her some stocks, she said "they are not gonna be worth anything, they are stock in comic book company, have you ever heard of Marvel?" This was just before X-men 1, and Spiderman hit the big screen. I can't imagine what they are worth now. It might be a little late, but w/ the Transformers movie and G.I. Joe on the way along with other Hasbro properties I would not mind having a little piece of hasbro.
