That's pretty cool. I'd like to see that. I'm planning on watching Retaliation on an IMAX in 3d.

Yep, I was planning on seeing it in Imax 3d the first time and then at least one or 2 more times in 2d and/or 3d. I think I'm gonna try 2 make it 2 this Burbank theater to see it in this new technology. Burbank is only about a half hour-45 minute drive from me. This sounds really cool, but I'm sure AMC will use this as an excuse 2 raise their prices again. They already have the highest prices of any theater, at least out here in SoCal.

Still, it sounds like a logical step forward for the 3D medium, since it sounds like it will address one of the biggest weaknesses of the modern 3D techniques: The dulling of the color palette. Now if AMC will just hop on getting those "clip on" 3D glasses we'll be set. I don't have any illusions that we're going to get "glasses-less" 3D in theaters anytime soon. |

I interviewed at In-Three back in early 2005 when they were touting all about their Dimensionalization and how their work with Star Wars wouldn't require 3D glasses... Even had an offer from them. I don't really think it's economical in any way to have a glasses-less experience in the theater, given one's size and the variable distances/angles from the screen. Plus, I think very few types of films translate to 3D well enough to transcend a gimmick.

If it helps with the darkness of the screen then I'm all for it... even if it's going to cost an extra buck or two... 'Course 2 adults and a kid for 3D (mini)Imax for Oz last weekend was $40+
