This story line is sort of reminiscent of Marvel issue #3, where they bring a robot back into the PIT and it creates havoc and finally destroyed before relaying the location of the headquarters to Cobra. I wonder if there is a nod to this story here?

What's "dated" is Duke's overuse of "bro" when talking with Beachhead.

I HATED DDP's take, except for America's Elite. 20 years, it's run it's course. Time for some fresh air.

I don't think it's a nod so much as it's a way to introduce Cobra as a bigger threat. It's a "we know who you are, but you don't know us" kind of thing.

Thanks for the review Shin. I'm stoked to finally get to read this thing. I'm very curious to see the artwork after your detailed description of what they've done.
I have recently been reading the DDP run and being that I'm almost finished with it I'm glad IDW's run just started cuz I'm addicted to joe comics now. Sorry Marvel fans I just can't read comics with the Marvel 80's dialog. I also just got the new resolute comic packs and they are pretty decent, can't beat the value, 3 of 4 figures are sweet and free comics |

As far as I'm concerned the Marvel Comics GI Joe line ended at issue 52 (right after Storm Shadow kicked the crap out of Quick Kick)
So I'm all for a fresh start |

I liked it. Not much going on, but it's issue #1. Just glad to see Joe comics back on the shelf.

I'm not liking what I am hearing. I can understand rebooting the continuity. That's fine. But just because you are rebooting the story doesn't mean you have to make major changes to the characters. Like for example, if they were to bring back the Thundercats cartoon I wouldn't expect them to go off the same continuity as the original. But at the same time I wouldn't expect them to have Panthro as a woman.

Picking it up one my way to the train Station -give me something to do on the way home...can't wait. Glad it is a reload because it'd be hard to fathom geriatric snake eyes and medicare storm shadow battling with canes and walkers. Hawk taking his dentures out...what could have been.
Nice review |

Ha, I really loved that issue! I even remember the 7-11 where I picked it up. To me the 50's issues were pretty solid. I even liked the way Hama handled Raptor.
