I'm agreeing with MTN. Hasbro is releasinga new line of GIJoes for a new generation of kids. I'll pick these up for my kids and hopefully they will get the same enjoyment out of the linethat I did. I said this in another thread and I'll say it again. My dad's GI joes were Barbie ken dolls with camo and guns. They didn't look anything like the ones I played with in the 80's. Toylines evolve, the world keeps turning and a new generation of kids will learn about GI Joe.
Count me in for the movie and the toy line. Last edited by WVMojo; 01-05-2009 at 10:25 AM.. |

No....people with faith that the movie is going to rock want stop unti they sit in the Theater and see the waisted $12 Film with their own eyes....even then they will swear up and down that it is a must see....never wanting to admit it sucks....and sucked from the first leaked photo........Enjoy your crap filled 2 hours and know you will never get that time back ever!!!!
Do something good with the $12 and give to a needy family....not a back stabbing movie studio........ I'm not sold on the film, I'm not very confident that it will be awesome, but I'm at least willing to give it a try before just writing it off. I heard a LOT of these same exact comments before Transformers came out, and $700 million later, lots of fans are eating their words. Believe me, I'm not saying G.I. Joe will do that, I don't think it will, but I would have thought that film franchises like X-Men, Spider-Man, and Transformers would have taught the cranky fandom that change isn't always bad. Regardless, even though Transformers was somewhat ridiculed by critics, it was enjoyed by many fans, so whether or not it was "good" many people did indeed end up eating their words. Justin |

Hold on.
Cobra Commander has a "mutated snake face" in this movie? Really? Hasn't Hasbro learned anything from the first GI Joe: The Movie? |

The same niche audience that claimed the Transformers movie would be crap didn't figure into the equation...the movie proved very successful because it appealed to the masses. I'm all for someone voicing their opinion...but some of y'all are crazy! Just because of a few lackluster promo pics and some prototype toys...you have seen 5% of the actual freakin' product. Until the trailer comes out and they start doing some serious press for the film, give it a rest. I for one cannot stand the "never seen a frame of this film, but it sucks" attitude. Give it a chance...we've spent $8 on worse... ~LTD
I don't have to see 5% of the actual film to know it's not something I want to waste my money on. Ripcord has been white for 25+ years but now he's black. Yeah, umm right. As I've said before, if they're going to completely change the characters like this then they can kiss my ass. I will not waste a dime on it in the theater. I honestly cannot wait to see how well it performs against Harry Potter and some of the other movies we already know will rake in a fortune this Summer. I'm quite sure it will rake in some dough but I'll bet it will not pull in anywhere near the amount that TF raked in a couple of years ago. If the movie had some transforming cars then I'd probably say it will rake in hundreds of millions because we all know that the American audience is a sucker for a porsche that transforms into a giant fembot with machine gun jubblies. So My advice to those who are still holding out hope that this movie won't blow compleet donkey balls is this-give it up now before You are even more disappointed later. Let it go...just let it go |

I want to like this movie, I really do. And I hope it does well.
And I want to like the movie toys. But man, what we have seen thus far is just so generic looking. It looks more like the lesser grade figures the put on the pegs next to Joes. Action Force? Something like that? three figures, a motorcycle, over-sized weapons on a flimsy board for $4. These have the same feel. Esp'ly that Breaker and the guns that are pictured with the MARS case.
