That's nice to hear. I think $50 is a very reasonable price for the casual consumer to pay for this set.
A word of caution to some of you guys, if you want something, buy it. "Waiting until clearance" is one of the things that really killed the 12 in GI Joe line (especially in regards to 40th Ann stuff). If you don't support a line at retail and at retail prices, and it constantly goes to clearance, it's not going to last. I'm sure you'll argue "it's too much, I don't have the money" and if that truly is the case, then you shouldn't be buying Joes with your cash anyway. For those who don't feel the value is up to standards, then your better off picking up the single pieces you need from the set. Regardless, it's a good set, and I'm glad to have it even though it is peppered with figures I certainly didn't need dupes of. I completely agree with you. I've said the same before but this info just falls on deaf ears. These sets are tests for future big ticket items and at this rate, there is no future for a new USS Flagg. If a collector can't handle a set with 7 figures and 3 vehicles that breaks down to $6.30 per item, then how is said collector going to pony up $150 - $200+ for an aircraft carrier?

Right now it's YMMV. I know another Tanker saw it for $40, at my place it's still over $60 and my friends who work there think that if it does get reduced, it will be after Christmas.
But I counted 8 as of tonight. No one seems to be buying though.

I see people doing this all the time, buying something just because it's on really good discount. Like all the crazy people buying plasmas just because they are on sale. In multiples even. That said Target's $62.99 is obviously not MSRP for this set and is instead their standard markup. While many people say $49.99 was the original suggested price given by Hasbro based on the mark up I suspect it was $59.99 instead. |
