maybe it's sorta like symbolism.. the "wind effect"
imagine the the flag on a pole.. and you're holding that pole and walking forward.. wind blowing against you.. so basically... "moving/marching forward" or something.. |

I often wondered about the flag being this way on soldiers uniforms. I thought the proper way to display the flag was with the blue field on the upper let, but it is the upper right on real army uniforms. The only thing I could think of was the "wind effect" ranoobu mentioned.
