Cobra-La Royal Guard This figure was released date back in 1987 in the vintage ARAH toyline as part of the Cobra-La 3-pack with Golobulus & Nemesis Enforcer(now named Nemesis Inmortal in the current toyline). The concept of Cobra-La was a depart of the more realistic designs from 1982 through 1985-86. Now in the current toyline we got Nemesis Enforcer/Inmortal but we still lacking the other 2 characters. In my case I want badly a modern Royal Guard figure & I will tell you guys my reasons below: -The looks: it's insectoid appearance makes it one of the most original looking figures in the entire joe toyline. If Hasbro capitalize on that & make it equal or similar to the custom figure they made for the 2007 toy convention we will a figure so great looking that even Cobra-La haters would be persuaded to buy it. -The accesories: a silver scythe, sci-fi looking pistol & red antenna. They will be all-new made accesories & not recycled from previous released joes. -Another army building figure to collect: Who don't like to building massive armies to recreate epic battles? -New fooder for custom figure makers: The dedicated custom joe makers in this forum are always looking for different looking parts to do unique figures. A Royal Guard figure parts will be excellent to mix with other modern joe parts or compatible figure parts like Star Wars to make aliens, mutants, bizarre looking fellows or just undercover joes dressed as RG to infiltrate Cobra-La headquarters. How Hasbro should pack it? Hasbro should release it in a future comic pack wave with another army building like a G.I.Joe Greenshirt. It would be awesome to have a RG/Greenshirt CP so we could build 2 massive armies for nearly the price of one figure. Also by releasing RG this way Hasbro can test the market for a future Cobra-La Royal Guard single carded release for those who don't want to get the Joe Greenshirt. It's a winning/winning deal for Hasbro & us joe fans.

FRAG VIPER
Frag Viper would be very simple to make, and I'm thinking he should be a little bit bigger than the average Cobra Soldier. To make use of existing molds we could go with IG Destro's arms and the rest could come from Bazooka with a brand new head sculpt. Of course he would need new web gear and weapons. A removable helmet would be nice, but not essential. Frag Viper would come with, Jai Alai-like grenade thrower backpack with removable black grenades sub machine gun various hoses web gear removable helmet (maybe) So simple to make I wouldn't be surprised to see him sooner rather than later. One of the best looking, IMO, Cobra figures ever. The 25th CG Commander doesn't work in my book, and every CG needs a good leader when the twins are out doing business.
I would however do away with the missile system he came with originally as that seems like a grunt weapon or a specialist weapon. I also imagine the new head sculpt could also be used for a Techno-Viper as they look reasonably close. Accessories: Backpack (standard CG but colored black or silver) Knife Pistol Rifle (Baroness V9's) Last edited by pig iron grenadier; 05-06-2009 at 02:26 PM.. |

Woah, I was going to post this guy as well! Frag Viper was such a cool concept, even when I was a kid I appreciated the creativity. I always imagined the guy who designed him saw some kinda documentary on jai alai the night before or something like that lol. |

The cool thing about the jai alai grenade thrower is that when he's out of grenades he can sink that sucker into someone's head like an axe. At least that's what he did in my battles.

Sci-Fi
Sci-Fi is a great design and always reminded me of Robocop. Even though he is colorful, I still would like a modern update of Sci-Fi in his original colors. He would come with his laser rifle, a backpack with an attachment for the laser rifle, and the hose connection.

And add flying orb for Globulus as an interchangable piece. |
