The figures look like they have potential as custom fodder and really that's what it's all about to me.
The details seem muddled though. And I don't mean just from the pictures. They remind me of the last tween joes like the DTC ones where it looked like they had a lot of detail but then before they made the molds someone spilled glue on them and muddled all the peaks and valleys into something that looks like the sculptor just took his thumb and wiped the unfinished sculpt then went oops, well it's good enough. This is especially apparent in the face masks. I dig the knees though. Finally some plain pants knee caps with detail.

I want EVERYONE to know that CrimsonGuard101 is my twin brother. We we separated at birth due to the cosmic law that there could not be that much anger and negativity in one place at one time so we were sent to opposite sides of the country, so that others may live. Until the day when we are reunited and will combine our powers to destroy all the happy little people who are positive and love everything and think that life is always swell!!

These look boring to me. I much prefer my 25th Vipers and IGs.
With that typed I, like many of you, will be picking and choosing from the movie line. I'm certain they'll come up with some stuff that simply blows me away! Other stuff, like these figs, won't. But hey, ya' can't please everybody all the time, right? Have fun, all!!! |

Truth FTW.
Seriously, the haters here are just looking for excuses to bitch and whine about anything. These are some awesomely detailed figures that give a very good representation of that the Vipers and IGs might have evolved from (like the Stormtroopers did from the clonetroopers, and they from Jango Fett). Even if they're prototypes, they look like some of the most detailed 1/18 scale figs I've ever seen. Anyone who says they look like utter crap (or compares them to the Corps, WTF?) is just making themselves look completely narrow-minded. Do people even read the thread before posting anymore? Look, I think the movie's gonna blow. I really do. It has the slimmest chance of being good. SLIMMEST. However, these toys look very detailed and right along the lines of what one would expect from toys based on a live-action GI Joe movie. To call them "crap" is just ridiculous. To say they don't look like "GI Joe toys" is also ridiculous. I mean, what exactly constitutes GI Joe anyway? We've gotten everything from the laser troopers to snake men to genetically engineered soldiers to a guy dressed as a bird. The GI Joe concept and range is far-reaching. To label these as un-GI Joe shows a real narrow vision of what the brand is....which is what these guys are complaining about. You might not like them or want them, but they look exactly like what one would expect from toys based on a live-action GI Joe movie. That said, I'd prefer them in blue. Too much all-black going on in this film from the looks of it. The Matrix and X-Men films also had a ton of all-black characters, and their respective toylines were failures. Maybe since Cobra is just forming, they haven't incorporated blue as their signature color? |

I really doubt anyone will have much trouble finding movie product ~ aside from 2008 Camaro Bumblebee it was pretty easy to find all the movie TFs.

I don't think I have an issue with thier look per say, its more about it drowning out other well known and awsome figures that when redone in the 25th era style will look so cool. I see all these awsome customs you guys make on here and I have tried my own and I can see they can just about make any damn character they want. I just do not like the fact that they feel that we all need to have this new stuff for thier precious movie shoved down our throats at the exoense of what we are really shopping for (orignals in the 25th style). Since they are sooooo affraid people will not be able to tell a difference, that bothers me cause they can fade away old details into the new and call it permament additions like they did with VvV crap.
Get rid of Indiana Jones, Hulk, Batman and all of this stuff LITTERING the stores and just have star wars transformers and Joes. That is all i ever see kids buying except maybe John Deer products when I am way out in the boonies looking for missed joes LOL! I don't want the packaging to change form the orignal card art to this new stuff. I don't wanna see melds with Star wars as someone has pointed out even if it is givng them a leg up on cheaper molds. I have put down THOUSANDS of dollars, yes I am very ashamed of that but oh well its my money and my life! And I am entitiled to real remakes of my favorite figures for spending that money! Not supporting a movie budget that will not hit revenue standards when released into the box office....Dennis Quaid and Wayans dude go make money on someone else! PEACE!@ |
