Look, my parents were hippies, alright? It's not my fault! (._.)

There is no way in hell the club is not aware of the fact that consumers are not happy with them right now. You wouldn't be human not to figure out that after the credit card fraud issues.
Zarana, well that wasn't for lack of trying. They tried to get her and the Skystriker. They couldn't make it happen. They even said they were going to try, so fault them for not getting the job done, but there is a good chance they were denied. Finally, the system undermined everyone? So I got undermined? Everyone else going to con got undermined too? Everyone who got non-attendee sets got undermined? We all have sets coming (well, at least that's the assumption). About Zarana, I fault them for teasing that it was going to happen and waiting to the last second to say, "Nope, we couldn't make it work." That was done intentionally to increase membership in the Club and many people resented it. I don't blame them for not trying; I blame them for not communicating honestly. I'm not sure your rant about the being undermined was actually going for except that you were enjoying saying that word.

I got footloose and a bunch of late news letters. So far the benefit of my club membership feels a little lacking.

Ok, if they get that people are upset, try doing some customer service and change that around. Instead the Club keeps digging the hole deeper. At this point, it makes little sense to join the Club as exclusives are becoming a challenge to actually receive.

Last year at the panel, they said they are planning to do the same thing with Zarana as they did with Slaughter. There was never a guarantee. Those were questions, not rants. Note the question marks at the end of each sentence. You said everyone was undermined. The point is getting at it without sarcasm: You are incorrect. You are not speaking for everyone in the room. Those were questions, not rants. Note the question marks at the end of each sentence. You said everyone was undermined. The point is getting at it without sarcasm: You are incorrect. You are not speaking for everyone in the room. 1) The limit on the Golden Ticket undermines all but the most avid fan with unlimited cash. It creates a tier system that in of itself undermines any sense of community at the convention. Instead of community, it creates greed. And those with the golden ticket typically wield it ruthlessly. They use it to pay for itself on the secondary market. 2) Membership means nothing. This year, what mattered was attending. In past year, attending meant exclusives at the convention. Now, they are changing the "rules" regardless of how they may defend it semantically. Now, not attending members and non-members were fighting for a small number of sets. 3) EVERYONE was undermined by the increase in price. A $6 "internet usage" fee? (Not everyone - only everyone who wanted anything from the convention.) 4) And one last thing: FunPub is creating a convention more about getting stuff and less about getting to know people. The guys that I respect on here all talk about the joy of meeting up and getting know fellow fans and learning the faces and voices behind the user names. With Golden Tickets and extremely limited quantities of vehicles and parachute figures and whatever, the name of the game becomes getting toys, not making friends.

Whoa whoa whoa. You can stop with just the first sentence. That's my entire issue with the statement you made. You just needed to substitute the word 'everyone' with something else. The rest of your argument I'm ok with .
I've always used my con extras to help somewhat or totally pay for my entire way to con, golden ticket or no. As have a lot of people. I'd have bought a golden ticket whether I got to buy more stuff or not though. You don't have a damn clue how many people with a golden ticket resold sets. You don't have a clue how many of them even bought the full limit opening night. So typically, you make up statements about what the golden ticket holders typically do. 90% of them might have bought the limit to resell last year, but you don't know that. 10% might have. But again, you don't know that. It's all an assumption on your part. Probably a good assumption, but The club is the con, I agree. If it weren't for con I never would have joined 10 years ago, and I never would have joined every year since if not for the con. Other than for the Footloose and Dial-Tone I don't know why any you have joined up in the past who don't go to con or get con extras. They increase the price every year. Shocker they did it this year too. And finally, your money not friends comment. Fun Pub does not make a conventions catering to making friends I agree. However, people who go to con go the extra mile to make the after hours events happen to build friendships. We're not all there going to make money. I can make money a lot easier working at home than driving all the way down to New Orleans to maybe break even. I go down to hang out with and meet new friends. When that stops being the case, I'll stop going. Quote:
Fine, allow me to explain how MOST everyone was undermined:
1) The limit on the Golden Ticket undermines all but the most avid fan with unlimited cash. It creates a tier system that in of itself undermines any sense of community at the convention. Instead of community, it creates greed. And those with the golden ticket typically wield it ruthlessly. They use it to pay for itself on the secondary market. 2) Membership means nothing. That pretty much sums it up for me. I'm in it for the toys and not much else. I'm not very comfortable in social settings and don't have the money to sink into long-distance vacations, so conventions really aren't my thing. I'd probably consider going if it were local to me, but it would depend on the exclusives. Con sets have been hit or miss for me since their inception, but the club really knocked things out of the park thematically the past 3 years. I've been more than happy to hand my money over for Slaughter, Dr. Venom, Dial Tone, MB2, Footloose... and would have liked to continue that with this year's OG/IG set. (If the Red Shadows set had been ME, I would have snagged that too.) I'm on board for the FSS too if it ever gets off the ground (and if it'll let me order grumble grumble). So yeah, I'm missing out on what a lot of you guys consider an integral part of the experience. But I'm okay with that if it means I can get the toys that I want. And since the only place to get these is the club... yep, that's why I'm a member.
