It sucks that they are releasing the entire cartoon series again because all I'm missing is Season 2 part 2. I wish they would just release that one, or at least if they re-release the others, they keep it the same as the ones we have so that when S2 P2 comes out, it'll fit into our existing set.

I always thought of Chuckles as the winner of some sort of internal contest at Hasbro.
"hey, lets see the blandest, most boring figure that you can come up with"... But hey, I bought him the first time around, no reason not to this time. Oh, and I wouldn't be surprized to see a couple variants on him... Seriously. There are and endless number of Hawaiian shirts out there. |

A better surprize would be a dreadnok.
I can live with a Doctor Mindbender though, as long as he has a monocle. |

Hasbro Q and A: 2008, Round 4 - Answers!
Postby Rockshield on Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:16 am Here it is gang.. but first, A note from the Hasbro G.I. Joe Team: Hasbro wrote:Thank you for your incredible support over the past year. What started as just a handful of figures in 2007 now includes a full line of figures, vehicles, comic packs, DVD packs, Mighty Muggs, and Combat Heroes. Yo Joe! We would like to take this opportunity to answer one of the most common questions about the classic 3 3/4"" figures we have heard from the fans: Will there be any more classic 1980's 3 3/4"" figures after fall 2008? The Hasbro G.I. Joe Team's response: In late 2008 you will see a bonus wave of single figures and classic comic packs that are redecos of figures from the 25th Anniversary collection. Due to the huge success of the G.I. Joe line, we were able to squeeze in a number additional figures into the end of this year. But this does not mean the end of classic figures or new tooling! As we head into 2009 prior to the August 2009 live-action movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, you will see newly tooled classic vehicles, newly tooled versions of your favorite characters from G.I. Joe Resolute, and a number of favorites you have been waiting for: Dr. Mindbender, Alpine, Tunnel Rat, Alley Viper, Recondo, Outback, Night Creeper, Zap, Shockwave, and even more! With the release of the 2009 movie you will see many of your favorite 1980's characters in movie styling, but that does not mean the end of the classic style. The Hasbro G.I. Joe Team recognizes that there are plenty of additional classic 1980's figures and vehicles to release in the future after the movie and in the years to come. JOhio: 1. Is there a chance we will see the Rattler and the Conquest re-released through mass retail, possibly with new paint jobs, as we saw with the HISS Tank, Awestriker, and the Sharc? Habro: You can get the Rattler and Conquest at Target right now and there is a good chance you will see repaints of these on-shelf prior to the movie. JOhio: 2. Besides what has already been revealed, are we going to be seeing anymore "Real American Hero" based vehicles before the movie? Hasbro: Yes. JOhio: 3. Can Hasbro attempt to create an industry standard within its own firm and with other firms of 4" figures to keep the lines coherent in size and shape over the next few years to further allow interplay between all action figure lines? Hasbro: The 3 3/4'' standard figure worked in the 80's but today our design teams need the flexibility to do 4'' figures for taller characters and 3.5'' for shorter ones. We don’t want to put too many contraints on the design teams, but rather let them make the best figures possible. JOhio: 4. Now that we have gotten the Tiger Force versions of Duke and Flint, when will we receive the Ninja Force versions of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow? Hasbro: There are no plans for this before the movie. JOhio: 5. The Tomy Gacha Vending machines are now advertising the G.I. Joe logo on many of their advertisements, is there a new vending machine toy product coming? If so, what can we expect to be able to purchase in little plastic capsules? Hasbro: Sorry, this is still top secret information.

Chuckles wasn't one of my favorites, but I never disliked the guy. I'd have to see him first, but I would imagine I'll get one.

THE G.I. JOE COMIC FORUM • View topic - HASBRO answers your questions *UPDATED 10/20*
Quote:
Q: Is there a plan to release the entire Marvel published line in Trade Paperback format?
A: There are no plans at this time. Is there a plan to release some or all of the comic series on DVD or CD-ROM? A: There are no plans at this time. Are there GI Joe/Cobra characters you consider untouchable for a possible comic book death? A: Definitely not. The 25th celebrates the past 25 years. It is not meant to be a snap shot at this point in time. Nothing in the history of RAH is off limits. Will we ever see some other comic created characters such as Candy Appel, Hard Master, Soft Master, Blind Masters, Shooter or Wraith made into figures? A: It's possible. The initial goal is to capture existing collectors as well as latent fans who haven't been involved with the brand for 25 years. Once we have captured everyone's attention, we have the ability to drive deeper into the fantasy. Will future comic packs focus more on the Marvel Comics (please!), the DD comics or a bit of both? A: As we have said nothing is off limits from the past 25 years. However just as our product has celebrated the "golden age" of RAH, any comic re-issues would need to begin there as well.

1. Fans have been asking for Pythona, Cool Breeze, Mangler, cartoon Space Shock Troopers, and other media-exclusive figures for years, but we have still haven't gotten them. Instead we're getting oddities such as Hard Master, "do-jo" Snake Eyes, a skeleton in an upcoming DVD set, and endless repaints of the same four core characters. With such a fever pitch going on for the line, why can't we get some more never-before-seen characters that have also contributed to the G.I. Joe mythos? Hard Master at least is a step in the right direction, but why not others who are arguably more popular? Especially when all the fan requested figures could be made with existing parts, just with new heads?
For the past year we have been balancing creating figures for our core fans and keeping figures on the shelf which are welcoming to more casual fans from the 80's (and kids) who want to get back into G.I. Joe. For this reason, you are likely to see a Snake Eyes on shelf at all times. We also try and mix in newness and cool figures hence Wraith, Matt Trakker, Para Viper, and the original 13.

Again,
Destro, Mods or anyone else who knows: Any idea of when we will get to see our first glimpse of these guys? (Recondo, Mindbender and Chuckles) Will we see them in '08 or will it be next year before we see them? Sab |

Now for our questions:
1.) How will future comics included in comic packs fit with the known Joe universes? Will they fit with the old Hama-at-Marvel universe? Stand alone issues that could fit anywhere? Explicitly part of the new universe at IDW? Movie comics? A little bit of everything? In spring 2009 the in-pack comics will take place in the G.I. Joe Resolute universe and will be written by Larry Hama. 2.) Are there any plans to resume putting original comics in the comic packs? Who will write the comics? Yes, starting in 2009 we will have brand new comics written by Larry Hama and produced by our partners at IDW. 3.) Are there any plans on releasing the comics from the comic packs as a series of trade paperbacks? There are no plans for this right now, but it is possible down the line. 4.) Any plans for a possible Adventure Team Comic anywhere down the line? No plans for this at this time. 5.) How do you plan to introduce new characters, to the comics, tied in with the merchandise? Should we expect to see two or three separate lines of toys based on all mediums? During the marvel run it seemed like the toys pushed the comics, but now with the Movie / Cartoon/ 3 comic adventures / and the 25th line how do you plan on proceeding? You will see a single toy line next year once we get to the movie. From a comic perspective you will see a number of IDW comics.
