I'm an after the 25th Tank member, and that really says alot about what I like about G.I. Joe, and that's classic design. This "Rockslide" toy, despite being pre-production, feels out of place, and that's what I'm worried about, but I was a kid playing with these from '83 -'86, and those "25th" designs are indellible.
Does the toy further indicte the movie's suckditude? The movie has rights too, so no, we all need to see it first. BUT, from what we've seen so far, if this movie doesn't resonate with the kids, then we could see teams of black clad Joes hangin' with Indy. |

Hasbro needs to go back to what worked for them in 1982 - 1985 and make vehicles that resemble real military vehicles or at least military prototypes. This looks like neither.
The funny thing is, if you take your finger and block out the top end part of that big long front/top window it looks kind of cool. They should have just given it a normal crotch rocket bike window and that would have been pretty cool and believable. But no, they give us this SFI crap which is what brought the line down in the 1st place. I have a bad feeling this movie and its toys are going to ruin GI Joe's new 25th line for us. |

I feel like a lot of this negativity is due to what this is and the fact that it was the first movie item to be seen. I seriously doubt this would have been the debut item Hasbro would have shown us to get us excited about the movie line.
Personally I hope that the movie is great and the movie line at least isn't awful and it will make the hiatus easier to bear. Keep in mind guys, this character as far as we know IS NOT in the movie, so odds are we are looking at the equivalent of the many Batman repaints the Dark Knight line sees. This is unfortunately something all movie lines do, release uninspired items to help balance out the line and cover the expense of new tooling. I wouldn't step out onto the ledge until we see a whole waves worth of figures and vehicles, and then you can draw your own conclusions. But don't base it off this, this is an unofficial item that for all we know is unfinished or just a mock up. I'm not in love with this either, but I think it's silly to say the whole movie line will suck based on this one item that is not even in the actual movie. |

just a couple of thoughts
1. What likely brought most of us to the line as kids was that Joe gear and vehicles had a basis in reality. Sure some of them were a stretch (H.A.L. Jump etc...) but most were based on current civilian and military designs . Most of our favorite vehicles the skystriker, nightraven (sr-71) conquest rattler, mobat mauler. All were based of current real world tech with a touch of fantasy. That being said, I think that this is a reasonable attempt. Yeah I'm not a big fan of firing weapons, but when I was a kid I loved them!!! (I remember being soooo disappointed when my cylon raider, colonial viper, and mail away Boba Fetts missles didn't fire!!!). 2. The best info we have is that Snow Job is not in the movie. Put him in the toy for 2 reasons A) tie new customers into the existing line. They know that there are more members than got screen time. I mean think of all the SW figures based on characters that flashed on the screen during the cantina scene. Hasbro will want to try tie INS to comics/movie/resolute/25th at every chance they get. B) reason number two: wouldn't you rather have another figure that technically wasn't In the film than the 99th duke figure? (cause younknow that's probably who's really driving it) think about that before you go railing on a repaint of one of the better figures of this line! don't hate on the figure cause he has modern polar camo. The head green will be covered by his parka. Yeah more grey or black would have been better than green but who knows what it will end up like |

Is the reference pic squashed a little? I think I prefer the movie still vs. the toy.
Gatchaman, you added to what I was trying to say. |

Hopefully this thing will be awesome in the movie and kids will want it. From reaction on this board including me, the collectors will be passing.
