No, just means they were projected wave that were planned, but that doesn't mean that they will actually get released. Or not through normal retail. They could be released later as exclusives or to discount stores if they actually had any packaged and waiting to be shipped. The later is probably not going to happen with these..

That said, I was under the impression Kwinn's tooling was due for use this fall in the second wave of Retaliation Ninja Battles sets (specifically as Sgt. Airborne), so technically the mold is still coming...just not as Kwinn. Quote:
Seriously, in the 18 months of PoC/30th, we got a whopping THREE Duke figures, THREE Cobra Commanders, Five Snake Eyes, and Three Storm Shadows. Compared to other lines, if anything, it could be argued core characters were a bit underrepresented in Joe since the end of RoC. Quote:
Data Viper was never tooled, indicating these were canned a LONG time ago Kwinn's tooling is appearing in Retaliation, and of course, the CG and Night Viper are due for release in the line as well (of note neither has a huge amount of new tooling, the NV has NO new tooling I can see). Flint? Considering how little investment Hasbro has made into the individual figures, I'm skeptical how impressive Flint would have truly been. For every Scarlett or Storm Shadow, you got 3 or 4 straight repacks (like much of the first wave of 30th), or heavily reused parts. Hell, Renegades Duke, Ripcord, Tunnel Rat AND Law and Order are all basically the same figure with different accessories. I really suspect Flint would have been another use of the Renegades base with some remixed accessories and the Resolute head, something akin to last summer's General Hawk. Would it have been a cool and well done figure? Probably, but I don't want people thinking that Hasbro has this amazing new Flint with a bunch of new tooling sitting somewhere (and if they do, they'll probably use the parts at some point during Retaliation)

I still think he would have made a better con exclusive. I still feel Joe comic fans continue to vastly overestimate his importance and visibility in the brand.

Yes it was hand painted.. but it was tooled.. so they have/had the molds made. All of the accessories were new as well.

no. it just means Hasbro assigned them UPC's and submitted those UPC's to wal mart. even the names of the products in the system are assigned by Hasbro when they sync the UPC's in wal mart's system.

Not to be a downer but my theory is that Flint was canceled, not just because this wave was canceled but because I think he wouldn't have been that much more of a step up from Resolute Flint. Maybe the same head sculpt, just different gear from other figures.
No doubt, Hasbro may have been able to pull off something awesome, I mean Stalker is bad ass but he had no new tooling at all. |

not necessarily. they can have a completely handmade version that wasn't created by a factory mold. what has been said is that Hasbro never created the factory tooling.

But as with Kwinn, if Hasbro DOES have tooling for the Data Viper, they are probably keen to get some use out of it first, especially considering how elaborate that tooling seemed to be. But if tooling exists, I'm certain the Data Viper should be pretty high on Hasbro's use list, especially if the next movie can get retailers to up their orders (making him feasible in Hasbro's eyes, unlike the current state of the brand) Quote:
At the time Walmart received this information, Hasbro had still planned to release Kwinn and the Data Viper at retail. Obviously, a LOT of things have changed in the last year. But it is EXTREMELY unlikely any of this "wave" (bear in mind this list could be parts of multiple waves) reached production in any meaningful capacity, especially considering Hasbro has already revealed that two of the figures have been moved into the Retaliation line. This product was likely cancelled a LONG time ago (Hasbro has said the Data Viper was never fully tooled, for example)
