Well, the pictures that surfaced recently of the next few waves showed the single pack Dusty and he looked identical to the one in the DVD pack.

Dusty's last name is Rudat. Not Tadur. What's up with that?

Dusty's file name is Ronald W. Tadur. It's rumored to be an anagram for one of the G.I.Joe Hasbro's packaging artists, Ron Rudat.

I don't like him that much, but I'm not really a dusty guy to begin with. I'd like to see some others before him.

You'll have to search through the threads to find it. I can't remember where it was at. It's about 2 weeks old. It was the one where Duke had the childbearing hips in it (Mutt's legs) and the repaint of Gungho and several others and most folks debated whether or not it was legit.
Our founding father Destro posted the pics on the front page so I have no doubt they are in fact legit.
Hasbro is really making an unwise move. They're focusing their efforts, money, tooling and time on the movie line after the last 3 waves of repaints in the modern line.
They want they're movie line to sell and I understand. What I don't understand though is why they think the movie line will sell well. It has been collectors--not kids--who have bought the modern line. (with certain small exceptions of course)
Most collectors have shown no interest for the movie line. They don't want a Tatum Duke or a Wayans Ripcord.
So instead of spending half a year on movie joes that will warm the pegs, they should continue the modern line and focus mostly on that. 1 mold for each of the movie characters and the vehicles and leave it at that. Not 4 repaints of a Tatum Duke.
If very little collectors are planning on buying those repaints, and then the movie figures, Hasbro is going to take a loss of profit. Because collectors, who are buying the joes are not interested in the movie joes, they want the modern line with replicas of the joes they had 25 years ago.
It's simple. Put out 1 figure of each movie character, then keep your effort on the modern line. Kids will see these other characters and that will make them interested in exploring the joe universe.
Lots and lots of good characters that have not been made yet. Hasbro gives its buying base the figures they want and Hasbro makes the profit. Everyone goes home happy.
Recondo, Cover Girl, Wetsuit, Dial-Tone, Footloose, Lifeline, Tunnel Rat, Muskrat, Shockwave, Jinx, Chuckles, Law and Order, Spearhead and Max, Repeater, Sci-Fi, Airtight, Outback, Big Ben, Ripcord, Mindbender, Zarana, Monkeywrench and Night Vipers--I would buy these.
The movie figures--no thanks.
And I'm not the only one.
Now, someone could say that was the Dusty from the DVD pack that was shown, but none of those other joes were revealed up until then. And why repaint him later and sell him for 7 dollars, when you can do him right the first time and sell him in the DVD pack for 20 dollars?
I don't know what they're doing. But I don't like it. Some may disagree, but it's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.
One of those WTF moments I guess.

One other thing:
IF hasbro does this--and they take at least half a year of poor sales with G I JOE, I don't see them coming back in late 2009 or early 2010 with new joes and new molds.
Every 4 waves we get a repaint wave, so Hasbro can keep it's costs down and get the necessary funds for tooling new molds. How many waves do we get a year? 6?
If those 6 waves sell poorly and Hasbro hasn't given up on Joe entirely due to poor sales on the movie line and should the movie do poorly, they will have to come back with more repaints of Duke, Cobra Commander, Scarlet, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow to get the funds for new molding and continue the modern line.
How many people would actually be willing to buy 4 more waves of repaints just to get the ball rolling again?
Collectors for the most part are already tired of the numerous repaints.
I hope Hasbro pull a rabbit out of their hat. I hope I am wrong. Because if means I have to swallow my pride and admit I was wrong to get the joes I want, so be it.
But right now, this side of the movie and the toy line, I can't see it.

I mean, the QUALITY of the fabric is what bugs me, not the color as much. It looks like he's wearing a burlap sack. Toys never look right with real cloth fabric, the actual fibers look so out of scale that it looks like they're wearing potato sacks.

I'm sure you can go to a Joann or Hancock Fabric and pick up some replacement cloth that will look 100x better. Or a thicker pair of "nude" or khaki women's tights (with a finer thread pattern, of course). The thread count would be a lot tighter.

I think besides the camo being different, the extra detailing is nice though. Like the nametag, similar to Hawk's.

I guess I'm one of the few who likes it, despite a silly little fabric strip that I'd probably replace anyways.
