Comic Book Resources > CBR News: Chuck Dixon Writes G.I. Joe for IDW
All of these books should be good. Plus, having Chuck Dixon, who is just about perfect for G.I. Joe, as one of those 4 writers is downright awesome. |

interesting, some things have apparently changed at IDW (but not the cover price :p ).
Larry's now writing the "origin" of GIJoe, and Dixon's doing the "ongoing adventures" with Robert Atkins (i believe we'd been previously told that would be Larry's book and that Dixon was doing a prequel book for the movie.) and also dropped in there is Christos Gage (who's awesome) is co-writing a Cobra 4 parter...

Nice. The idea of LH penned Joe stories was making me worry. If Dixon can bring a cool Team 7 vibe to the new Joes then I'm definately putting this one on the monthly pull list. The Cobra mini sounds cool too.

Comic Book Resources > CBR News: Chuck Dixon Writes G.I. Joe for IDW
All of these books should be good. Plus, having Chuck Dixon, who is just about perfect for G.I. Joe, as one of those 4 writers is downright awesome. Link here: Comics Continuum by Rob Allstetter: Monday, September 8, 2008 --- " IDW PUBLISHING TO LAUNCH THREE G.I. JOE TITLES IDW Publishing on Monday announced its plans for G.I. Joe spinning out of its G.I. Joe #0 in October, with three new series scheduled for early next year. G.I. Joe #0, a 24-page, $1 comic, will contain three stand-alone, five-page stories, as well as character sketches and commentary from artist Robert Atkins, previews of upcoming covers, and interviews with the new G.I. Joe creators. The issue features two regular covers, one from Dave Dorman and one from JonBoy Meyers, as well as two incentive covers from Atkins and a wraparound image by Ben Templesmith. The first title in January will be the singularly titled G.I. Joe, written by Chuck Dixon and featuring art by Atkins. This title moves ahead in the timeline from Hama's series and looks at the fledging G.I. Joe organization as it explores an all-new threat, a shadowy organization that is first introduced to the team in a #0 issue story. Dave Johnson will provide covers for the series, as will Atkins. The first issue features a special wraparound variant cover by Gabriele Dell'Otto. Larry Hama will be heading up G.I. Joe: Origins, a series that launches in February re-envisions the G.I. Joe team for a new generation. Hama will look at the formations of the G.I. Joe organization and who the characters on the team really are. Hama will be joined by artist/colorist Tom Feister. Each issue will come with two regular covers, one by Andrea Di Vito and one by Feister. Launching in March is G.I. Joe: Cobra, a four-part mini-series written by Christos Gage and Mike Costa, with art by Antonio Fuso, and covers by Howard Chaykin and Fuso. The mini-series provides a look at the new status quo for the primary threat in the G.I. Joe universe. IDW also will be launching comics that lead into next summer's G.I. Joe live-action movie from Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, as well as deluxe reprints of past tales. Details for both these projects will be released soon." --- Looks like Larry is not writing the main book after all, but I guess we'll have to wait and see - either way, I am really excited about this news. Way to go IDW, looks like they might have the right idea on this relaunch. I for one and looking forward to all of these books. |

I will definitely give them a fair chance. I've never read anything by IDW before, but I am hopeful and optimistic.

Damn IDW is going all out for G.I. Joe! Its very impressive, considering how overlooked the franchise has been.
I wonder if G.I. Joe:Cobra is about Storm Shadow. The incentive cover by Gabrielle Del Otto is going to kick ass! He did the painted Secret Wars comic from 2006, and a bunch of painted covers for Marvel. That guy rules. |

the on going adventures, the origins and the cobra mini series are a given but are there any other rumored or comfirmed series or books? i thought i read somthing about a book based on the upcoming film. would the other comics the article speaks of be strictly mini series or could there be another or other on going books? plus, how long do you speculate the origins book to run?
