Yeah, cause there was a Gi Joe cartoon in 1982 when the straight-arm joes came out right? Ohh wait, no there wasn't, it came out in late 1983.
I've seen parents buying their kids Gi Joe figures numerous times and I do not even go to the store that much. A few weeks ago i saw a father in his mid 30's maybe (prolly grew up on Gi Joe) talking to his kids and saying how he had Snowjob when he was a kid and WoW, I had that Crimson Guard guy too and buying a bunch for his kids. About the only thing that makes them cater to adults is the price. They were 2 frickin 99 in the 80's. Are any kids even at Comic Con at all? |

I really hope the GI Joe movie gets the kids excited and into buying a whole lot of GI Joe. The more money Hasbro makes off of this line, the more likely we are to see a good Rip Cord or Recondo (or anybody from the old ARAH days that you want remade) figure made in the future.

I think the only time little kids have ever touched the 25th line of GI Joes is when they are assembling them in the Chinese sweatshops... lol.

my son is hooked into this line to a greater degree than i probably was for the original. honestly, it's great. i don't have to explain myself when i come home from the store with a bag of joes (rare) or get boxes in the mail routinely (very frequently) from buying from tank members.
i myself have never seen a kid buy a joe but i believe many are bought for kids. i do not believe many kids simply pick these out amongst the overflow of gargbage the toy aisles are crammed with due to unfamiliarity of the line. just this morning my son picked out 2 snow serpents (left the 3rd for someone else) and he took them to the counter, etc. the clerk was very nice about it and gave them right back to him after ringing them up and he carried them all morning until we got home to open them.

Anyways, that father needed to introduce the child to the toy, the child didn't have pre-knowledge of the toy. And yes there are quite a bit of kids at comic-con, but I'd say ten adults for every child. |

They didn't do that for Transformers, even though when you bought the Transformers: The Movie 20th Anniversary DVD they had a preview for the TF tv series. And it said "coming to dvd in 2007".
