I picked both up today, and right now I'm one of those rare people who actually prefer the Conquest.

Picked up the Conquest on Friday, and my friend got me the Rattler on Saturday.
I still love the Conquest. Great Joe vehicle. I was skeptical about getting it, since I have a vintage one. However, it's nice to have a new one. It's got stiffer landing gear that stays up. Also, it's removable panels are so tight, I can't easily get them off. I might not even try. Once they come off, they'll probably not stay on very wel. The Rattler is nice as well. I can't believe how many labels it had. My neck started tightening up just putting them on. Overall, nice vehicles. They're a good bargain for the prices. Hopefully, we'll get some other vehicles at this price point. |

Here I am waking up.

The back side panel on my Rattler was a b&%@# to get off. I almost stopped trying when it finally popped off. It is a little easier to switch now, but is still pretty tight. The front one by the cockpit came off much easier. It almost seems too loose already. I only put the damaged panels on once then switched right back. I probably won't change them again anytime soon. I read somewhere recently that it is based off an experimental aircraft, but not one that was ever used by the armed forces. - Edit - It may have been the X-29 which was first flown in 1984. Last edited by NeilJam; 09-16-2008 at 10:51 AM.. |

I read somewhere recently that it is based off an experimental aircraft, but not one that was ever used by the armed forces. I haven't researched these claims too much, but I remember a story when growing up. When the Conquest first came out, I had a friend in middle school whose dad worked for Pratt and Whitney. My friend and his mom were from Sweden. The dad went over the aircraft like a professor and told us that the Swedes were working on forward-swept planes for their air-force. The forward-swept wing tech allowed for greater airflow and more maneuverability. However, they were extremely sensitive to human touch and required a high degree of computer control. Otherwise, a pilot would easily lose control. According to the dad, these were among the most advanced planes in avionics at the time. Back in the 80s, this sounded like sci-fi to me. Computer assisted tech? I was thinking KITT and Knight Rider. Both my friend and I were like, "Wow, cool." We had Slipstream talking to his airplane, traveling the world, solving mysteries, finding missing persons, going on adventures. . . you know, chasing tail and havin' fun. Or did I just imagine that last part?

I just browse ebay for the exclusive rattler, and I could not believe my eyes how many I have found there. No wonder I never found it in the stores. Hopefully Hasbro will do a general release just like the Hisstank, SHARC, and AWE striker which I am 99.99% sure they will. I just wait then.

I'm with you on that.....with all decals in place plus the bulk of it's size and having the right color rather then the purple rattler, I'm liking the Conquest more and more.

on the bright side, not many of the over inflated ebay auctions seem to be doing well which is a good thing.... maybe if they don't resell well at those crazy prices they will be less desireable as ebay fodder. thats overly optimistic thinking but i'm hopeful none the less.
