Finally! The one New Jersey Target near me that had the planes listed as available was in Clifton, and I managed to snag the last one of each!

nope and none anywhere near my area yet...not that I'd necessarily be able to get there in time anyway lol. I'm hoping the pre-order comes through soon...especially with Kenny saying that more should be shipping out from the "warehouse." Not sure why the "warehouse" is sitting on these and why the online customer service people say "our distributor has no idea when we'll get them"...these people don't have their act together for sure.

I heard something interesting today while talking with a target employee about these planes and I developed an interesting thought after the discussion.
For example, in my area, all of the Targets got the last exclusives except for the one closest to me. I have checked with all of those Targets in the last two weeks and none of them have any shipments scheduled to arrive for these two exclusives but the one store that didn't get the last ones has gotten five shipments already. I have no concrete proof that this is for certain, just my opinion and observation from what I have seen thus far. All of the Targets near me have been more than willing to answer any questions when I stop in and ask them.

Well, it would seem to me that when you release a high demand vehicle as an exclusive in what appears to be terrible distribution, you generate a scenario which ultimately creates even greater demand for that item by collectors and scalpers. There's no way this can be considered a reasonable much less accurate test market for future releases...
Also, the jets haven't really been released yet and some people are screaming foul. I think we should all wait at least until we see that the jets have been widely spotted at many Targets before we start with saying they were impossible to get. I check four different zip codes everyday (DE, PA, DC, CA) and have only seen one store list them in stock. Until most stores list them as in stock would I become concerned that Hasbro has botched another distribution job on a popular item. Last edited by Chris L; 09-10-2008 at 09:23 AM.. |

I have this feeling that by this time next week, most of us will have found the jets.
This is just a funny related story. I've been checking the availability of the jets on the Target site and saw yesterday morning that one Target out of several near me had the jets in stock. But I knew I had to work late and wouldn't be able to go. And I also knew my girlfriend would be near that Target during the evening. So, I asked her if she could pick up the jets and she obliged. She printed out pictures of the items and when she didn't see matching items on the shelf, she asked an employee, who was very nice about helping her. He went into the stockroom and my girlfriend waited around forever. Then the guy came walking back holding a HUGE box in each hand, and she thought the guy had brought the wrong items since she expected these tiny, little boxes. And there was another Target employee with him who said they were the last ones in stock, so I guess other people had been asking for them. My girlfriend told them they had just made someone really happy, and they probably thought she was talking about a kid. :-D So, long story short, my girlfriend is totally awesome in that she helped me with toy hunting, and she didn't even blink at me spending $50 on two planes that I'm not even sure where I'm gonna display them since even I didn't realize they were so huge. Of course, it helps that I got a new, better-paying job yesterday, so the mood was celebratory. Yesterday was a really good day. |

I don't follow that, if most stores get them in stock then there is no problem. The problem is that stores are not stocking them. If you mean that stores stock them, but in very small quantities, then I understand what you mean. I agree that it will take some time for them to filter out. I think all of this impatience (myself included) is due to the original rumored release on the 7th, the delay of many pre-orders while some people have already got theirs, and the fact that they have been bought at some Targets. I've got my little list of zip codes too, and nothing going for today so far.
Like it was said above, in 1-2 weeks I think almost everyone will have their share of these items. |
