One thing going for Ray Park is that aside being an actor, he is a martial artist. Remember, before going to Japan and joining the Arashikage clan, Snake eyes was a martial artist, its just that much of his martial arts past prior to that is vastly overshadowed by the fact that he was trained by the Arashikage.
We need someone who can play a brave commando with a martial arts background but is afraid to get attached to anyone for fear they will die. That is central to Snake Eyes' character, his fear of those close to him dying, and the fact that he was mysterious to begin with even before becoming mute. Can Ray Park or Barry Pepper portray a brave, yet wounded character like that? I have no idea. Before anyone mentions Tony Jaa again, I don't think he would be a good Storm Shadow. His acrobatic prowess is very impressive, but I see him in the same way I saw Robin Shou as Storm Shadow; niether scream Storm Shadow to me. |

Ray Park is just an arbitrary stunt man that is only known because of his work in Star Wars and X Men --two genre movies. what a coincidence that fans of those tend to also be fans of Joe
I know a lot of Joe fans that are not into SW. It just so happens that during the 80s, most Star Wars collectors were initially drawn to the Joe figures because they were the same scale and located in the same aisle. That's it. Not much other association beyond that. As for who is cast in the Joe movie, it's out of my hands, so the speculation is equally light. Personally speaking, I would prefer some more unknown actors as well. The discussion here actually pushed me in that direction over time. -PJ |

only fan boys know who Ray Park is, and only fan boys are online talking about a dream cast of a movie based on toys. in fact, that is a defining criteria of a fan boy. if you know the actor who played Darth Maul, you're a fan boy. I don't mean the association of the toys in the 80's, I am talking about the internet crowd (like us), who live and breath these properties. for the most part, the crowds intermingle, and a lot of toy collectors collect both, and they tend to be the most prominent members on sites like these. those are the fans I am talking about----fanboys. |
