Yeah, we'll probably never get a 'classic' Ripcord because they don't want people to look past Marlon Wayans-esque as the new Ripcord. Hate that.

I repeat: Ultimates Nick Fury. A re-imagining of an iconic character (far more than Ripcord) that was accepted by fans.
The Joe movie is not set in the 80's, has a smaller roster and a 'modern' (for want of a better word) origin for Cobra. It isn't following the comic or cartoon. Ergo it's a re-imagining and I find such changes okay as long as he looks, sounds & acts like a professional soldier.

Not all fans liked the changes just as some fans, myself included, hated the TF movie. I saw it at the theater once and that was enough to turn me off of the line completely. I won't even spend money on the classic figures anymore because of the crap they turned out in that movie. So you can't make generalizations that "the fans" liked it when some fans actually don't like changes like these.

I'm pretty comfortable with Ripcord being black. Although there is a special place in my heart for the original, I have enough confidence in Wayans (per his role in Requiem For A Dream, specifically referenced by Paramount in why they chose him) to be fine with decision. Just because something changes doesn't mean "deth of teh line!" . . . though for some of you, it apparently does. Those of you that have never seen Requiem For A Dream and are basing your disapproval off of whatever not so hot role he's played. That's fine, totally valid. But don't pass total judgment until you see the films where they call on him to actually use his acting talent over his comedy talent.

And if any of those guys did the part ,I'd want to see them play Stalker. Just cus' I like Stalker more than Ripcord anyway. Personally I never really gave a crap for Ripcord, but Stalker was awesome always!!!

Wayans as Ripcord doesn't bother me; if the dude wants to move away from comedy and into action movies more power to him. Worked for Bruce Willis.
As for being Ripcord, well that character isn't iconic enough for me to care about the changes. I had a way tougher time with custom flames Optimus Prime.
And as for the posters, I think they're looking good.
Dunno if the Baroness had lassic (sp?) and is wearing shooting eyewear or if those are prescription but I think she looks great.

flat out i have no hope for this film. reject Xmen costumes BLAH! they are not getting my 8 bucks but they will get my 2 or 3 hour DL time

I think Wayans looks cool as Ripcord and can't wait to see him in action. Only thing is like others have said, he shoulda been Stalker,as I don't care about the character Ripcord anyway.
