Anyway, Hasbro lied on Friday. They had not sold out of the Blue Cobra Commander. On Saturday morning, they magically appeared again. They were sold out by noon. That sucked if you didn't have a ticket to get in the Hasbro line before noon. [side note: Hasbro used a time slot ticketing system from Thursday through Sunday to space out the buyers throughout the day.]
Anyway, as of Saturday night, they have not sold out of Black suited Cobra Commanders. But the new sticker over the Blue-suited Cobra Commander says, "Sold out at Show." This suggests the Blue suited CC will be offered at some point after the con, but very limited.
The limit was 2 Black Suited CC and 1 Blue suited CC per attendee. This was heavily enforced through a punch system on your badge. Unless you had more than one badge, you couldn't exceed that limit. The only ones that could overcome this system were exhibitors, essentially vendors. Each exhibitor is alloted a number of badges according to their booth. Doesn't matter if those people are there or not. So, vendors kept switching out badges for fresh ones. Also, they could have them reprinted all over again by going to the badge booth.
I know this because I got in the SDCC using a vendor's badge. He sells animation cells and is friends with my father-in-law. And no, he didn't buy toys at all. He just offered to switch up my and my son's badge to buy more CCs.
Now before you rant against the vendors, this is a highly time consuming venture with lines running upwards of 3 hours the first couple of days and the time involved in reprinting badges.
Anyway, good luck guys.
Gaelinic | That is so freakin lame. They announced that the blue variant were sold out by 10am on friday and then say ok we have more for saturday!? A lot of people didn't bother to go back on saturday because of that. Bad managment on HTS part. BTW, did you managed to score one?

What's this about the SDCC CC not having 25th articulation? I must have missed that somewhere. Can someone elaborate on this? |

| I was the second guy to line up at SDCC this year. I got interviewed on nbc and everything. ( My video game buddy got there at 1:00 am, and i got there at 2:00 am ) I drove from san francisco for 8 hours, and then proceeded to line up for another 17 hours, just to be able to make sure i got to the hasbro booth for preview nite. Then, after registering, i was still first in line to get into the convention itself.
On top of that, i learned that 4 other lines had formed, and that they were going to be simultaneously let in. This was not fair to those of us who got here earlier, as we waited over 10-15 hours before some of the other lines, who would be let in at the same time. I let the security and organizers known of this concern. and they agreed, and assured me that it would not be an issue getting to the booth.
Also, i was told that exhibitors would not be able to get into that line. Whatever the case, simultaneous lines getting let in, or exibitors who also had regular badges on the side... I got in first to the convention center on wednesday nite, and the hasbro booth was already packed !! WITH FREAKIN VENDORS !!!
So I wasted 20 minutes tracking down the organizers and security that vouched for me, and assured me that wouldnt happen. Seeing as They saw me standing there for 17 hours, and getting interviewed and such, as well as assuring me this wouldnt happen, they escorted me to the front of the line, and i was able to get what i wanted, thus making the looooong wait worth it. That still sucked for anyone else that was behind me ( hundreds ).
So moral of the story? you could camp out at the con for 3 freakin' months... and if you dont have an exhibitors badge... you will most likely spend all three hours of preview nite in the hasbro booth, OR NOT GET ANYTHING AT ALL, because they CAPPED THE LINE 10 MINUTES INTO PREVIEW NITE !!!
So do I have anything against the vendors? Hell yeah, but I'm just gonna join the enemy next year, and get me a vendors badge, so I dont have to worry about all that crap again. I may have been able to get me a gem afa 10 commander, but i'll never know, cause people who got there hours after me, still managed to get there before me. IF YOU DONT GOT AN EXHIBITORS BADGE NEXT YEAR, YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH SCREWED.
way i see it.
Yo Joe. |

Everyone i've talked to said that 2 years ago preview night wasn't as packed. Last year was my 1st year going and it was one big cluster f..
I dont remember if they had any signs up at the HTS booth Wednesday stating that you have to obtain a ticket upstairs but that would have been nice to see, oh and place it maybe somewhere you can see it, not the corner of the lines where everyone is blocking the damn thing. It was also on the order sheet on the top right hand corner but in light blue text, make it red so it attracts attention or something..
I didn't score any blue CCs, i went Wed, Thurs (didn't know about tickets), and Fri (arrived 12:30, line hella huge for 1pm tix), skipped Saturday (got too buzzed @ a exhibitor party the night before) but scored 4 Black CCs today using my badge and a friends.
Every year from here on out it's probably going to get worse. I admit, Hasbro sorta did an ok job this year with the Joe line and didn't sell out immediately. As of 1pm or so today they had plenty of black CCs. |

Have we seen everything we are going to be getting for the end of the year? Not that I am complaining if we have, just trying to plan. |
