NYC 2007 American International TOY FAIR G.I. JOE Sigma 6, Combat Squad and Adventure Team Round Up!
Lots to go over so lets get started with the good stuff first.
I think one of the most Important Questions I asked at Toy Fair was "Is Sigma 6 still going to be around or is being replaced with Combat Squad and Adventure Team?" The answer that I got is that Sigma 6 will be ongoing and continue through the year and Combat Squad and Adventure Team will start showing up along side Sigma 6 Late June/Early July.
The reason why I even asked that question, No "Original Sigma 6 Style" Commando's or Soldier Class toys were on display. We know that there are more on the way via Prototypes showing up at Auction in Asia. So both Hasbro and these Auctions confirm that the Standard Sigma 6 line will be around for awhile.
The Snake Eyes Quad may not make it to retail. It was ment to be an exclusive and as of now it has no home, this may or may not change we will just need to wait and see. The Snake Eyes Parachute will start hitting Wal-Marts very soon so keep an eye out for those.
Combat Squad really looks like its going to be a winner. The new Logo is just Amazing and the figures seem to be more "Adult Theme" in my mind. There were 3 on Display and only 1 was in a mock up package. Only two names were given on the side of the package and they were Shockwave, Desert Wolf. I asked them about the third in package figure with a Long Range Head and they said that the focus was on combat with this line and the figures are very early. So no name was given for this figure. A lot of people are calling him "Leather-Neck". I asked about the name Desert Wolf and was told this is a Place holder name for now and it might change in the future but ShockWave will be part of the line.
A Hasbro press release had this to say about the Combat Squad
G.I. JOE COMBAT SQUAD

The new COMBAT SQUAD will feature military-style figures in the popular 8-inch scale. The 2007 line will include LEATHERNECK, SHOCKWAVE and BEACHHEAD …. all with the KUNG FU GRIP!
The Adventure Team line also looks like its going to be a lot of fun to collect. I really like the idea of Animals in the mix of G.I. Joe and im glad to see a COBRA will be in the first wave. The Temple Adventure set will include a BFC Cobra with moving tongue with Snake Eyes and a jewl set that has a trap set up to close on the arm of anybody who steals the jewl from its holder. The Croc Adventure set comes with a huge Croc that has a spring loaded jaw that closes on its victom. No information on the name of the Croc Adventure Figure was given. The Box Set was of Storm Shadow with tiger and from what I was told the Tiger hand no secondary action play. Other sets you can expect to see for 2007 are Dusty with Scorpion Desert Adventure and "Gorilla" Theme Adventure sets.
The Hasbro Press Release had this to say about the Adventure Team sets.
