Ok, first I want to say that the new law passed last year stated that stores do not have to follow the MSRP anymore. A manufacturer can set a price they feel is enough to make a profit, but a store can charge whatever they want now.
2nd, Hasbro can and HAS told Walmart to piss off before. 3 years ago when Walmart started selling Elmos, and some other holiday HOT toy for a $20 loss, after ordering the majority of the stock. It ticked Hasbro off. Both Mattel and Hasbro told Walmart that from that point on, they will get the hot toys AFTER everyone else gets theirs. Some of this was for up to 6 months. That meant when a new toy came out that was hot, Walmart has to wait 6 months before they get all of their orders filled. One was for out of fear of suffering the Whiffle ball/Radio Flyer/Vlasic death. On a side note, I just bought a case from one of the advertisers to the right of this post for .15ยข less a figure that the retail stores charge. |

I have a weird story concerning the GI Joes and their prices. I found five cases of joes tonight (2 were Wave 9 and 3 were Wave 7) at Walmart and all of the cases had the WalMart inventory sticker on them that said 6.84 and the pegs still said this.
The store I found them at is the only one around me where they are still 6.84 instead of 6.97 and the sticker on the case doesnt show a price increase.

I wrote to Hasbro two. The more people that do it the more aware they will become. I'm hoping. I'll write to Target tonight.

Done! Sent my inquiry to Target. I just felt I have to take a stand on what I feel is concerning.

Oil is skyrocketing and it's affecting the whole world, but you don't see writing/petitioning/boycotting working, do you? I doubt a trivial thing like a bunch of collectors not liking the price increase will have any effect on prices. This is probably a simple situation of supply and demand to which the retailers are banking on. I do say though that with gas prices and now increases of figure's prices, scalpers will be less inclined to purchase them and thus will leave lots of figures behind. |

[quote=Ewokhunter92;188578]Guys, these are toys. The company you are writing to is a toy company. These are not vital to living things. If the price increase is out of your price range, it is time to reconsider either your habits or income method.

you guys actually find new joes at target? i don't get it, target is not mine. i used to like going into target, not anymore. my closest target remodeled the whole store. totally changed everything, except one thing, the toy selection. they moved the 13 buzzers they had hanging from one side of the store to the other. they paid employees to haul stock that's been hanging spider dwellings to the other side of the building to improve sales. sometimes i just don't understand the management at target. this seems to be a reacurring theme with all the targets around here.

I don't think the Indiana Jones figures are selling very well.
I don't think it has much to do with oil either. I think the increase is 'cause Joe figures fly of the shelves pretty fast and they can't keep them in stock so they charge more since people are willing to pay. |
