G.I. Joe 2 not to be shot in 3D

Over on Collider.com there's an article about G.I. Joe 2 not being shot in 3D and filming starts in August. I'm sorry, for some reason I can't put a link to it. Maybe because I'm a retard. Anyways, thought I would pass on this tiny bit of news.

That's fine with me - I find 3-d more distracting in most movies, although it made Avatar worth seeing.

Does anybody know if it cost more to shoot a film in 3D? If it does, this tells us that the studio wants to keep the cost of filming down on the sequel.

Pretty sure it costs more to shoot in 3D, and pretty sure the studio wants to keep the production costs lower. I'm betting they're shooting for a production budget between $100 and $150 million (as opposed to $175 million for the original).

Where the heck that money went I really don't know...

I think a big part of it to is that to shoot in 3d the post-production takes longer. They are only going to have a year to make this thing from start to finish, so cutting out 3D will probably help them reach the deadline.
