So Iceberg will die for certain, and I'd say 50/50 odds on Alpine biting the big one, too. Maybe not in this issue, but probably in this arc.

I'm hoping that everyone makes it... but with everything IDW has done in the past its like its not a storyline unless some Joes die. I wouldn't minded if they were killing off lesser known characters or new characters from the end of the original line that no one really knows anyway.

If anyone dies, I'm hoping it's Helix, but I'm not optimistic. That said, looks good so far, and I really liked the art in this preview. MUCH better then the issue of Joe from last week.

See, what's happening is that it's all part of Hasbro's master plan. In another year or two, the only Joes left in IDW will be Snake-Eyes, Duke, Scarlett, Flint, Heavy Duty, Tunnel Rat, Shipwreck, and Beachhead. Thus, giving Hasbro all the excuse they need to only produce those 8 Joes over and over again forevermore. With Helix as an occasional exclusive.

I was hesitant to get this but I am looking forward to how the series will play out once the civil war is over.
I'm hoping we'll get some internal monologue or at least some in site on this version of Snake Eyes. However I could care less on who dies. With ARAH, Renegades and the movie, I think there are enough ongoing versions that my favorite Joes are hopefully alive in one of the versions. Though I hope it's not Helix as she seems to be an IDW exclusive for now. |

So, who switched uniforms on the dead Ninja Force bodies? You can't honestly tell me you didn't notice this.

I hope they do not kill off Iceberg.
Artwork looks fantastic, and seems to be an interesting read so far. |

My Review:
This picks up from the events of G.I. Joe #0 with SE tracking down clues to the whereabouts of Khalikhan. Some more details about the IDW version of Ninja Force are revealed. They aren't one team but all are on different ones but all were trained by Snake Eyes. And apparently there's some past history between SE and Khalikhan. I was thinking Khalikhan would be the next Cobra Commander but now I'm hoping not because if he does become the next CC, then that means there's a connection between Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes and that's just to close to the bad parts of the original ARAH for me. Not much happens in this issue but it does give Atkins a chance to show off. Dixon moves the story along, with the Joe team finding the entrance to Khalikhan's mountaintop hideout and tricking their way in. This issue is mostly for Atkins. That's not to say there isn't a story here, but there's not much of one. It's a basic get from point A to point B plot. But the stuff that Atkins can do? That makes this issue. There are some really breathtaking shots. The colors are bright, much the same way that Atkins has always been colored in the Joe books. I'm not sure that bright colors will suit a Snake Eyes book, but it helps make the art look great. There are some interesting perspective shots and Atkins pulls them off. And he pulls them off correctly. There's no warped anatomy, foreshortened limps or anything else associated with getting perspective wrong. The detail he gives the entrance to Khalikhan's hideout is great. Snake Eyes #1 receives 3.5 out of 5 Now I just hope the next issues keep up the great artwork but throw more story into the mix.
