These don't. Now, the Sideshow figs...well, 70 bucks a pop, it probably ain't happenin', but at least I can look at those and want them. I know there's no fair comparison and I don't mean to do that...but I really don't find these 12" figures interesting in the least.
And Dusty has serious man-boobs. |

I didn't collect the original 12" and only became aware of the line in 80's, so my interest will always be the figures in the smaller scale.
Also, I don't find Hasbro's effort with these to be all that stupendous. Man-boobs aside, this line is just not that interesting. |

As far as I'm concerned, You cant make a Bazooka toy without a sports jersy. Let's hope we see a good 3.75 inch Dusty soon, I'd probably buy that instead of this crap.

Honestly, while there is some improvement, these aren't that far off from the VVV 12" figures from a couple of years ago, and those were not very impressive either. In a way, this kind of effort seems to sabotage the the line, which has a lot of promise. If $20+ versions do come out, they have to use the super articulated body and have more clothing/accessories, otherwise, the 8" Sigma 6 figures did a better job of doing the same thing at a smaller size. Compared to sigma 6 and the "new sculpt" figures, 12" seemed lackluster.
Sure, maybe this is hasbro's way of a cheaper alternative for kids and collectors to sideshow's releases, but these aren't the best. The 12" line did not do well to begin with during the VVV years, and since these do not look any better, maybe it won't do as well now. I can tell you one thing, it won't be selling as much as the anniversary figures. If the $20+ line doesn't come out, and if later waves don't have significant improvements, this line is doomed from the start.
Don't get me wrong, for the price, I am not expecting a Sideshow figure, but I am expecting a far better figure than past 12" gijoes. So far, we have yet to get it in the same pricepoint.
