It'll be a huge blunder for Hasbro to CHANGE ANYTHING when it comes to the 25th figs. Style, carding, all of it. If any change takes place I'm convinced it will all but kill the line.
In all honesty. Would you guys agree that at least 95% of the current sales on the 25th style figs. comes from people our age? I'd say so, and why are we buying it? Because it's a mirror image *for the most part* of the stuff we grew up with. Take that factor out of the equation and forget it, the lines done. This movie stuff isn't going to be a hit like so many seem to think. I can't tell you how many movie related products collect dust as stores try to push them. Take a look at your local store, you know what I'm talking about. The stuff is everywhere and i don't see anyone running in to buy it. Sure it's overproduced, but it's not all that popular either. I can tell you...and i know i speak for a ton of people. If so much as the retro card art goes out the window, i'm done. I will loose all interest and those little pennies of mine can start piling up in my piggy bank like they did once before. Who knows maybe nothings changes, I'm just saying "if" it did. lol |

They said there are 8 waves of singles this year. If the list from the repaint wave holds the last couple of waves will be:
2008 Wave 6 (wave 10) Duke Tiger Force Cobra Wraith Mutt & Junkyard Cobra Para-Vipers Cobra Bazooka Trooper Cobra Croc Master 2008 Wave 7 (wave 11) Pilot Scarlett Specialist Trakker Sgt. Airborne Cobra Eel Swamp Zartan Flint in Cobra gear 2008 Wave 8 (wave 12) Hall of Heroes repaints That's it for singles then. Hopefully, the exclusives and 2packs will give us a few more classic characters. I know there was a Walmart list with a few more figures, like the Omega Force stuff. Joe Con should be interesting this year. |

You are speaking for me too. This movie which so many welcomed is going to kill this line and I am pissed. It makes no sense what they are doing. Is there really that much more money to made in a quick movie themed cash grab as opposed to collector loyalty over the long haul? |

JBL's Q&A
http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/vie...hp?f=88&t=6556 1) Since the rights to the Sunbow library have been reacquired is there now a realistic chance of getting the complete Sunbow animated series released on DVD? Yes there is a chance. There are no official plans yet, but we are looking into it. 2) The 25th Anniversary line was hyped as having the most articulation we've ever seen (or something to that effect) yet the iconic and fan-favorite Major Bludd is being released with no elbow joint in his right arm. I understand the line is paying homage to the classic designs but this particular decision seems to be a step backwards in a line that has managed the balance between tribute and new construction techniques quite well. Can you explain the reasons for this decision? This was a design decision to pay tribute to the 80's figure and we knew that either way 50% of the fans would not be satisfied. Based on feedback, we are looking into an articulated arm somewhere down the line. 3) Hasbro has produced Star Wars Transformers and now Marvel Transformers. Are there any plans to create a G.I. Joe/Transformers cross-over line? If such a line were to be made, which creative team would primarily work on it (ie. the Joe team, the TF team, or a combination of both)? Again, if a cross-over line were to be done, what format would you prefer: TF characters that transform into Joe/Cobra vehicles or Joe/Cobra characters that are the TF's themselves? For the time being there are no plans for a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover. For the time being both brands are ramping up for huge movies in 2009 and want to stay focused on the movie line. We have heard the collectors asking for this…but for the time being it is not being considered. 4) We saw the Cobra Commander Comic Con exclusive, but we can't see his articulation because he's behind a podium. Does he have full GIJOE 25th anniversary articulation (ie: ball-jointed hips), or does he have more "Indiana Jones/Star Wars" articulation? This figure has an Indy/SW articulation. The only way to do this figure was to share the tooling with Indy; but we accepted the change in style because the figure rocks and he was designed to stand at a podium so his waist articulation is less important. 5) Throughout the 25th Anniversary line we've seen some figures with painted flesh tones and others with molded flesh tones. (IE- Flint vs. Buzzer) Will a consistent approach be adopted or will this continue to vary on a figure by figure basis? This is a decision that is made on a figure by figure basis by the design team. |

...Yes, I knew that was just an example, but still. It couldn't hurt. :P

You'd think so, but no. I have never had any luck finding exclusives at Wal mart for the past 10 years.

The whole reason I started buying the 25th line is because of the packaging and card art...and now they're going to change it :(
