I'm with you. I don't want joes in accelerator suits or new costumes. I want the 25th line. I love collecting the new line when I have the old line to compare to. I spend easily 2000 or more every 3 months on JOE goodness since last year. That is $2000 I will be saving.

ya what he said..
Man if they are not the old school joes with the cartoon artwork.. and dont look the the "ARAH" hero stuff. then well....... I will be saving a bunch of money fun while it lasted but i will go collect the old joes. and mebbe the DTC single carded figures if its some mass produced package crap like the TF"s or they look all weird..... (the only one i kinda dig is BBEE) then i am so cool off supporting gee eye joe movie toys they can bite my ass

I have a wait and see attitude toward this because if we keep buying, money talks, and they'll keep making them. They leave there answers cryptic so if they decide to do anything, one way or another, they can't be sue for false advertising and they can come out and say that we never said that.
I like the idea of the move figs, it's mean new vehicle's and I think we'll be some cool looking Joe team figs that are uniform and possibly a good looking baroness fig . and lot of people forget that the original joe team was more advanced than the military at that time. Now todays military is more advanced than the joes are. So having joes that seem to be decked out, in what appears to be the military's full concept for the future warrior system, seem to be a natural thing for the Joe team to have.

Wha... who... whe... zuh...
Do you read what you post? YOU said it was going to kill the line. Next time, try harder, please. And for a refresher... So... you work for Hasbro? Let's break this down. Aside from the fact one of Hasbro's questions that they answered was that basically they handle EVERY SINGLE PROPERTY DIFFERENTLY... (We view each property or brand separately as each needs to be handled in a way that works best for the individual brands. We have no plans for a common format at this time.) there is absolutely no reason for anyone to believe that they are going to handle this like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or Transformers. They haven't said how they're going to handle it, other than they're releasing classic and movie figures together... In Star Wars, they focus on the movie that is being released at the time. As for the new Clone Wars movie, they actually do have concurrent lines running, one for classic movie stuff, and one for animated Clone Wars stuff, because they are indeed different styles. However, there is no reason to believe they will follow the Star Wars business model. Are GI Joes articulated and styled like Star Wars figures? Nope... let's move on. Indiana Jones. Here's a great example of what they COULD be doing. The initial release has two waves of single carded non-deluxe figures. One from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The first Indiana Jones movie, lest anyone forgets. The other is of course, for the new movie. The next two waves (maybe even waves after, they haven't shown anything that far in advance) are BOTH for the other two Indiana Jones movies. Out of four waves, one is for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. So... even though these figures are more articulated and styled to resemble Star Wars figures, what is to say that they won't follow the way they're doing these, for the GI Joe figures? And lastly, Transformers. They restyled the figures, and gave them new packaging when right before these figures were released there was a successful "classic" line. Well, there's good news. They're not changing the articulation, style, or any way the figures themselves are for GI Joes. Sure, it will kind of suck if they change the packaging, but... we don't know yet. To say they ARE going to is remiss. We can say its going to suck if they do, which is the truth. Also, this line is a great example of integration. There are a ton of non-movie characters in this line. Lots of TFs that aren't in the movies, in the movie styling. The bottom line is this: GI Joe is not Star Wars. Its not Indiana Jones, and its not Transformers. How they are going to handle the packaging is still up in the air. How they handle what figures they release? Still more than a year away. We can say its going to suck if they change things... but saying you're going to quit or picket or throw bottles or firebomb Pawtuckett already is really stupid. Yes, i said certain changes would kill the line....And? Do you realize what has kept the line alive and strong? I shouldn't have to point that out. BTW, don't just quote, actually read it, you'll find your answer there If you want to make some lengthy quote and try to make sense, you need to elaborate on whatever it is your talking about........ Now your talking about picketing and firebombing Hasbro headquarters or some nonsense? What are you talking about? Sorry but i can't take you seriously. This is the second time you've replied and "made" stuff up then accused me of having ideas such as these. I'm assuming or at least HOPING, your exaggerating, but non the less it's ridiculous to take it to that degree. Nobody's firebombing, launching tear gas, donning riot gear, or holding poor Chinese workers hostage so that we can get our precious little Joe's just as we want them. Don't confuse me for some guy who bitches that Duke's wrist isn't the same as it was portrayed on the cartoon or that Major Bludd needs a pocket on his right leg three inches down from his hip socket so that it could hold his bubble gum. I can careless about little stuff like that. However, if you that think it's stupid because i won't continue to have interest in a product because they make major CHANGES to it, i guess shows a lil' something about YOU. It's NOT the SAME FREAKIN PRODUCT!! And yet your criticizing me for loosing interest? How much sense does that make? Don't we make decisions like that in our everyday lives? If you don't like something, a newer model or look of something changes you don't buy it, plain and simple. Do i need to be more clear? AGAIN!! I see this getting OFF topic as usual. Some of us were simply SPECULATING about the future of the line. Doesn't mean anything is set in stone. Who knows what will happen. I'll do my part and stop the arguing since it does me as well as you no good Just another day at the Tank!! Last edited by Sysiss; 06-04-2008 at 03:10 PM.. |

This seems to have been glossed over. From Joesightings....
Q: We see a lot of focus on some more obscure characters (which is great!) but there seems to be a number of pretty core characters like Ripcord, Recondo, and Dusty who don't even appear to be in the works. Can we expect to see some of these characters that are so vital to the history of G.I. Joe? A: Yes…some of your favorites are on the way and will be revealed at JoeCon So there's still hope for some of these guys. |

I agree, some of us were just speculating in regards to the fashion in which they would be released. It is what it is tho. |

Right. But anything revealed at Joecon will likely be non-movie related. As they've said, they're not ready to reveal their 2009 plans. The question was clearly 25th related; one has to assume the answer was too.

JOhio's:
http://johio.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=416 Question #1 I am sure that there has never been a time when Hasbro has made it more evident that they are listening to the fans and collectors and trying to give us exactly what we want then now. Through the Question and Answer sessions, the convention roundtables, and the website polls, it seems like you really WANT our feedback. Besides those cited instances, what is the best course of action for us to "lobby" for the things that we want to see? We can post on various websites about what we want to see, but we have no idea who is reading it. So, what is the best, most direct method to show Hasbro how much we want to see something, besides giving us your home phone numbers? The best way to get in touch with Hasbro is via conventions in person (JoeCon and ComicCon) and the Q&A sessions. While we do check out the boards to get a flavor of what is being discussed, we are not constantly on all the sites. Question #2 What kind of steps are there from initial concept of a figure/character till said figure hits the shelves of stores? The process begins with design coming up with what character and expression of that character they want to do. The figure is then drawn up, sculpted, given deco and a test run is done of the product. At the same time a team is working on packaging and copy. After a test of the product is done, tweaks are done on the deco, sculpt, and package. For more info, our designers will be at JoeCon and are happy to give more details as it is tough to cram 12 months of work into one paragraph. Question #3 Although we all loved getting a "Scarface" figure, can you explain why the comic included in his set was placed during a timer period where he was already dead, and not during the period before he died; or is this character supposed to be just a scarred trooper and not the actual "ScarFace" that appeared in the early Marvel run? The original plan was to do ScarFace, but the story that Larry came up with was after he had died in the continuity. We have challenged our fans to try and come up with their own explanation and let us know what you think the "story behind the story" is for the return of ScarFace. Question #4 Why is there such a big discrepancy between when the typical brick and mortar and online sites get product and when HTS gets product? HTS will typically only sell a product when they have it in stock so they do not have to cancel any orders; other online sites sometimes work differently. We are trying to get HTS product earlier in the lifecycle. Question #5 What factors or ideas do you take into account when developing variants or exclusives? We typically look at a number of factors including; what would be really cool for the fans, what would be fun for us, and what is the market we are addressing. Sometimes we take some of our best ideas that could not fit into the line but we really want to see them out on market. And all of them in a quick and dirty single site: http://www.generalsjoes.com/qanda.html
