Ya they got a last minute call from Hasbro so they didn't have much time.
Besides it is a Red Shadows/Action Force board from the U.K. :p Quote:

HASBRO AM KILLING TEH LEIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111 Imagine a giant rolleyes smiley here. If so many of you are leaving, I'd be happy to take your collections off of your hands. Obviously if Hasbro sucks so badly, you won't miss them will you? Saying that the movie WILL kill the 25th stuff is really ridiculous. No one here is a Hasbro employee, and so saying that its GOING to kill it, is ridiculous... but I can't stop people from complaining, but at least I can comment on how ridiculous people sound.

I think there is a lot of worrying over nothing. Its quite possible to get a classic Ripcord and a movie Ripcord in the movie line next year. The styling is still the same as the 25th figures, its just that the costumes will be different. Maybe we will see what is going on now, the same cards used, but on the top right corner, one will say "modern era or RAH collection" like on wave 8, and the other will say "movie collection". Basically a combination of what we are seeing from waves 8 and beyond and what is being utilized on the packaging on the Indiana Jones figures to differentiate which versions of the characters they are getting.
For that matter, if another RAH based Snake Eyes comes out, say the v4 or Ninja Force, even if its released in the same wave as movie Snake Eyes, I highly doubt it will be sculpted after Ray Park. Surprisingly enough, with Ripcord being in the movie next year, I think the chances are higher that we will get a RAH anniversary Ripcord next year, in addition to the Wayans movie version. How ironic. Also, some of you are mad about the future of the card art, saying the current cards have the vintage art. They do not. They have digital reproductions, and if you look closely you can notice the alterations, and notice how different some of the colors are. The vintage card art is superior to the altered reproductions we have been seeing on the anniversary cards. You might not notice it from afar, but up close, the vintage ones are definitely better. |

And seeing those words, "end of the 25th line", makes me sad. :( I agree with what others have said. Run the 25th line along side the movie one, like a sub-line. Snow Job is sad indeed. :(

Cool Toy Review: As you know, the question of whether or not this line will continue past 2008 with more updates of classic (ARAH '82-'91) figures is frequently asked; and as of yet, still hasn't been confirmed (or at least clearly). Can you tell us if we can look forward to more updates of classic characters (example, Dusty, Blowtorch, Monkeywrench, Big Boa, Low-Light, Recondo, Rip Cord, etc.) being made in 2009 and beyond? It certainly seems as though this line has made its mark and could sustain its popularity for many years to come! Hasbro: The plan right now is to continue a classic based line until movie. At movie timing, the line will shift to a movie line look and focus; but classic characters like the ones you called out will be making appearances in this new line. The figures will all be based on 25th anniversary styling, so you will get the quality you are accustomed to. Didn't they do that with the Transformers line? I'm not a big follower of Transformer lore, but didn't they come out with some Transformers figures in the movie line that reflected a movie color scheme? Gaelinic

They will release classic characters but they will be in a movie line. All the figures, both classic and movie figures, are using the 25th anniversary styling. However, Hasbro's response indicates that figures will have movie designs.

Really what I see going on is a wave 8/Indiana Jones approach; same styled figures, looks based on either RAH or the movie, and a designation on the packaging, like "as seen in RAH" or, "as seen in the movie!". Again there is not only a lot of worrying about nothing but way too much jumping to conclusions. Some fans say they have hope for the line, but its funny to see how much more pessimism there is. |

Seems some people are only buying the 25th line for the packaging, and when a particular line ends they sell off a collection.
That seems odd to me... The anniversary figures have already run far beyond what was predicted, so nobody here has lost anything. Sorry to see a totally unrelated thread include an awful lot of "movie will suck" and "suckie movie figures" comments which are, ultimately, nothing but shots in the dark.

JoeSightings' Q&A
http://www.joesightings.com/forums/i...showtopic=8099 1. How many waves of basic figures can we expect in 2009 before the movie line begins? How many figures too if you answer the previous one? We cant talk about 2009 yet, but expect 8 waves in 2008 with over 40 single carded figures! 2. Will we see more Joes from the 86 to 91 years? We've seen quite a few Cobras from that period, but few Joes. The line was supposed to cover all 25 years of G.I.Joe, but these years have been neglected. Characters like Low-Light, Mercer, Tunnel Rat, Jinx, Shockwave and Hit & Run have their fans too. It's great to see later incarnations of Cobra Commander, Destro, & Snake-Eyes, but it'd also be great to see characters that had their debuts during those years. We evaluate every era of GI Joe to find the character with the most impact. Some characters are more popular and therefore have more versions made. When reviewing the list we look for a mix of gear, color, role, and historical impact to the brand. 3. Comic packs are one of my favorite items so far. Including a new or reprint comic with a pair of newly redesigned or BRAND new characters is a great move. Will the comic packs continue into 2009? Yes, the fans have voted and comic packs will continue into 2009. 4. First off, you guys are doing an amazing job on the line, and we thank you very much for all your hard work. Although some issues with the figures have been corrected, we're still seeing new ones pop up in each wave---from body proportion problems like too-long torsos or tiny heads, hands that can't hold weapons, or even characters like Steeler who look nothing like their original counterpart. Yes, we've heard some problems happen in your overseas factories, but some of these problems should have been spotted before final production was initiated. Why is it seemingly so hard to nail an individual figure just right in all aspects, and what is being done to minimize these issues in future waves? With each figure our design team strives to reach perfection and when we don't, we are continually trying to improve. We hear you on the weapons and are working to improve this. Head sizes are a result of having a large team of sculptors working on the line and trying to come up with a uniform figure for the brand, we are working on this as well. Steeler was never meant to be in the line, but we added him late as a nod to fans and did not have time or tooling dollars to give him a new head (instead the guys were working on the BAT) but wanted to get him into the line. Thanks for the feedback; keep telling us what you dont like and we will keep fixing it! 5. We see a lot of focus on some more obscure characters (which is great!) but there seems to be a number of pretty core characters like Ripcord, Recondo, and Dusty who don't even appear to be in the works. Can we expect to see some of these characters that are so vital to the history of G.I. Joe? Yes…some of your favorites are on the way and will be revealed at JoeCon |

From JoeSightings.com's answers "Steeler was
never meant to be in the line, but we added him late as a nod to fans and did not have time or tooling dollars to give him a new head" He doesn't have a new head? Yeah, his uniform is totally off, and he's missing his visor, but he doesn't have a new head either? that was the only thing he had going for him! What head does Steeler reuse, or do you think Hasbro was not being super-clear and was instead referring to the whole visor thing? |

Surprisingly enough, with Ripcord being in the movie next year, I think the chances are higher that we will get a RAH anniversary Ripcord next year, in addition to the Wayans movie version. How ironic. I'd say the only chance of seeing a classic Ripcord would be if they do an "evolutions" style pack like the upcoming one that has Classics, Movie and Animated Bumblebee. And even then, it may be seen by Hasbro to be too "confusing" for 'Ripcord' since they said somewhere that the movie character is more based on Stalker.
