Yeah, whatever man. You're the one arguing it "ruined" a franchise based on robots, mutants, ninja, killer potatoes, and whatever the hell Mindbender was.
Let me just ask you one thing, what in your opinion is more believable? A guy trying to take over the world who was... a) ...a used car salesman. b) ...a 10,000 year old snake man. c) ...a former military scientist. All this thread comes down to are a few haters who can't stand the idea of the movie not being their Joe, and want it erased from memory no matter how idiotic, implausible or downright unrealistic it may be. Hama originally wrote her as an American, so technically the cartoon screwed up her characterization 28 years ago. your argument is invalid. i know dudes that haven't talked about gi joe since they were kids, they watched the movie and was like wtf was that?? same result as me.. so i'm just saying.. i don't wanna argue with you at all, you came at me trying to laugh at something that had no humor.. and for the record, ruined in terms of my thought and memory of gi joe that i know as gi joe, it ruined my joe memory, like pissed on it.. just a statement, or an highly agreeable opinion.... didn't mean it ruined g.i. joe forever.. i'm still here buying shit that i feel is cool, right? now that we both got that out the way, and said our part.. lets get back to my obnoxious posts and your one liner pic posts, and make the tank happy.. 30 to 10 in votes, that's some land slide shit right there.. |

Grow up already. It's what I said before, people can't stand the idea of the movie not being "their joe". It's ego, nothing more. There's no reason why the movie should have any bearing on your memories of the cartoon at all when it's a completely separate entity. Stop trying to be the movie's victim, because victims are pitied, not respected. Quote:

Now, admittedly those clips are focusing on the best parts (Frank Legalla), but that looks a hell of a lot better than most of the genre crap on movie screens back then. This is why it's important to step back once in a while from our little nerd circle-jerks where we all validate each-other's opinions of what real He-Man or real Joe is and see how the rest of the world sees it. The first Joe movie was no great cinematic achievement, but the foundations of a good sequel are there and with good writers (which they now have) they could make a genuinely good story. Now if you really want see someone piss on your memories, I can do that a lot better than the movie, because nothing hurts worse than the truth. |

Thank you! What are you doing for dinner? In closing, I don't need an ARAH movie. I just need a movie that captures the essence of the original characters and is done in a way that isn't total garbage like RoC was. Hasbro and Hollywood knew the movie sucked so they hired Hama to lie to the fans and tell them it was good. Hama then went as far as to insult the fans who didn't take his word for it. For this Larry Hama is less than shit in my book. And my book comes with a box of crayons so you know it's awesome. |

personally i dont understand all the hate towards the live action movie. Yes i agree the acting is horrible, yes i didnt like everybody being related, but i did find it enjoyable and i thought it had the feel of the original cartoon. What do you want in the next movie dreadnoks taking over a space station with giant fuzzy purple monsters, or shipwreck losing his memory and living in springfielf where his wife and kid turn into a blob?

Boy some really harsh statements...but to answer to some unsuccesfull statements above...yea..ok i can let fatal fluffies go and scenes of extreme goofiness..cause im watching a cartoon not manga, its the 80s and im 5-10 years old so leave it.. But now im 30 and im watching a live action movie, not a cartoon and i expect a movie thats based on the series of toys and comics that ive been collecting and investing good money into it for the last 25 years..and what do i get??? The ultimate F@#k you in the face. Seeing iron man power suits, CGI overdose, bad star wars climatic sequences and a general we dont really know what we doing feeling in the movie is more stupid to me than fatal fluffies on a cartoon...I waited 20 years for a Joe movie and Roc is what we got and we are supposed to be happy with it??
And please..i dont think its that difficult to make a good and ACCURATE joe movie Oh and yes Masters of the Universe wasnt that bad as everyone says..I dont think anyone missed a talking cat and Orco and although campy..a sure step above the kiddie cartoon series in tone |

My issue with ROC is not that it was a new image of Joe, but the simple fact that it was a bad movie.
Did it have good qualities? yes. - a believable backstory to cc, a more internationalized Joe (which makes sense in the modern world), nanomites (its in development for real) DId it have a lot MORE horrible ideas? Absolutely - accelerator suits, neovipers, snake eye's vow of silence, duke/baroness, most of the casting and script. Re-immagining Joe isn't necessairily bad - see renegades, but ROC was just poorly done in general. |
