Considering the BUMBLEBEE spinoff movie is going to be set in the 80s, I was kind of hoping the GI JOE reboot would follow the same tack. A lot of this stuff only really makes sense in the 80s context IMO.

However, if the recent Transformers movie fails to gross a billion dollars in worldwide box office (as the last 3 films were able to do), I think that option garners a lot more consideration.

REboot!
i agree. While the first three TF films had their own Secret Agency & Spec Ops unit, Sector 7 & NEST respectively, it would have been a great idea (retrospectively) to have inserted one or two major JOEs there to set up a JOE potential spin off. But it looks as if that window closed as the way the current Transformers movie is going. Last edited by Shinnobi; 07-05-2017 at 11:44 PM.. |

I think the whole "cinematic universe" craze is cool, but when I first heard the idea that Hasbro wanted to merge Joe, Transformers, MASK, etc. I was skeptical at best. Personally I have no problem with Joes and Transformers crossing over, but I don't think it will work out for the best on the big screen. I would be totally okay if they just picked up where Retaliation left off. Keep Roadblock, Lady Jaye and Snake Eyes for the Joes, add a few others and have them square off against Cobra Commander, some other "named" Cobra Operatives and Vipers.
But they HAVE to ditch Flint. I just wasn't buying him.

SHOULD they? I am not sure. I think once you attach a brand to Transformers, something like MASK or GI Joe become "spin offs" from Transformers rather than core brands of their own merit. Then again, a few years ago that seemed to be the plan for Micronauts and that clearly changed, so....

Would you like a live action G.I. joe TV series made for online websites like Netflix, YouTube and maybe HBO?
We might get to see all our favorite characters, vehicles and anything based on the classic toy of the 80s and 90s.
