remember...these are all spoilers, and not proven. well, i guess that depends on who you talk to.

it's the stuff i've gleened from this sight the last couple of weeks.

some of the ideas are more in depth, some include other choices...etc.

i'm really just looking to see what the majority of us sees as the MAIN points of contention.

I think saying "characters kept basically the same" covers pretty much all of those other things...relationships, ethnicity, costumes! If they could just leave the characters alone, I'd be fine with whatever plot they came up with.

I just don't see what's so hard about taking the file cards for each character they want in the film and developing the story around them...HELL, I did it everyday when I was a kid!!! Maybe that's the problem. It's too simple!!

id be happiest with accurate costumes. i think idve been more tolerant of the transformers movie if the robots were more accurate to their cartoon counterparts....even if just in the head/face and voice depts.

i want joes american, i want scarlett/snake eyes, i want it all accurate, but i understand that changes will be made. but most of all i want it to LOOK like GI Joe....not delta force 2030.

MUST For the movie...

characters like their cards, or as we have seen them, know them. personalities, and such. we should recognize them without being told who they are.

Snake and Scarlett together, or at least working towards taht. it would be cool seeing that develope over the series.

snake eyes, scarlett, and Hawk should be american. most of the team should be american, but definitely those should be changed.

other than that, tell a new story.

Yeah, just using the characters filecards, which have basically been the same for 25 years would have made me happy.

Using the filecards:

All Joes would be American

Baroness would still be from some place in Europe, and NOT have some past "thing" with Duke.

MOST story elements would be the same as always.

Cobra Commander's filecard has always been a bit vague. Most of his backstory as a car salesman/disgruntled business man/military idiot came from the comics and cartoon. So they could have the origin they have written for the movie. Doesn't mean I like it. I prefer a Cobra Commander that built Cobra from the ground up and built his army of fanatical followers, rather than stealing the whole thing, ready-to-go from Destro.

If they had just used the characters filecards I think I'd be OK with about any story they came up with.

And before somebody jumps in here with the "Vietnam was too long ago, they can't use the same backstory", yes, I know. Once AGAIN, change that ONE THING to Iraq or Afghanistan. Problem solved.

Exactly. They've re-made their histories and personalites 9 as far as i cvan see) to such a degree that it's only GI Joe in name at this point. Granted, this is an extreme examlple, but let me try to put it into an analogy.
I spoend millinons aquiring the btman Liscense, and here is what I do.
New Origon story. Bruce wane witness his parrents brutal murder with a baseball bat weilded by a super powered clown as a small child. as such he grows up with a terrible fear of Baseball bats and clowns. He spends all his time studingin Law, and becomes a lawyer, who's driving goal is to create legislation that outlaws the use of baseball bats by clowns. By night he walks around dressed in a giant baseball bat costume fighting crime, and hunting the clowon who killed his parrents.
what, He's still BAT-Man, isin't he? Don't you like the new story?
it's a bit of an extreme example, i'll agree, but it's what they've done, essentialy.

Thank god the incredible hulk we've got a prescident of an instant reboot after a single movie if the first one flops off the bat ( pun ntended)

But who knows, perhpas it will be a big hit, and everyone will love it.

MAIN Joes American.. Would it be so hard for them to USE THE INTERNATIONAL CHARACTERS AS INTERNATIONAL CHARACTERS?!?!?!?!?!?!? Glenda, Vorona, Big Ben, Action Man. Seriously, Hollywood, you have all the tools you need to comprimize, but NOOOOOO.......
