Dude, that's not only my favorite Joe story, but also may fave graphic novel, above watchmen, V For Vedetta and the Killing Joke.
That one moment made a friend who borrowed the book like Snake Eyes. Before that, he was always "What's the big deal? Just some ninja..."

Snake Eyes in that storyline was a breath of fresh air, you get insight to his character via his monologue, which is revealing of his personality, something oft not mentioned in the Marvel/DDP storylines. He wasn't over used, he wasn't the all mighty deus ex machina, he was just a secretive guy who had to deal with dire means of survival.
"There are two things that can stop bleeding, fire and time, and right now, I don't have time".
Also with regards to a maskless face adding more personality, it doesn't. If that were the case, why don't we show Snake Eyes without mask during the entire movie, because it adds more personality, and hell he
is the most popular character, the money maker, and adding personality, by removing his trademark visor and mask, adds even
more money and credibility right?

Last year was a compromise, he wore it in battle. The whole debate last year, was whether he would have one at all, most wanted it on, a few off, in the movie he had it on in battle.

and some just think its cool to see storm shadow in a movie no matter what he looks like as long as there is a kickass sword fight.

True but most want the mask on at some point. They did the same for Snake Eyes, so why not his chief rival>?
