http://www.collider.com/entertainmen...id/7305/tcid/1 So the live action Duke and Cobra Commander were promoting their first film together, Stop-Loss. These are the main points: *Tatum only accepted the part after reading the script because he feared G.I. Joe was going to glorify war (having made the anti-war Stop-Loss). *He and Levitt are best friends, so that helped in taking the role. *There's a scene where Cobra Commander tortures Duke. *Tatum looks forward to the sequel. *Levitt wanted to play a larger than life baddie, rather than the usual normal conflicted type. I copied these points from SHH. Last edited by copywrite; 03-18-2008 at 07:42 PM.. |

I'm afraid this is a new take.
There's a scene where a a HISS tank is about to step on a war protester and Duke shows up to save the day. He climbs to the HISS' turret and inserts flowers into both cannons.

I think you guys are once again worried about nothing. A glorified war movie is along the lines of "Pearl Harbor" from a few years back with Ben Affleck and other cheesy war movies.
The producers are probably going along the lines of a more serious war movie like Platoon, which had emphasis on the characters. Quote:

I think Tatum was more worried about being viewed as a hypocrite. Who knows. It says he only changed his mind after reading the script, for all we know, maybe he didn't know what gijoe has always been about(RAH at least). |

I don't think anyone should compare "Stop Loss" to "GI Joe". One is a drama based in truth and reality about an unpopular war happening now, the other is popcorn escapist sci-fi fantasy. True they're playing US Soldiers in both, but for different movie genres.
"Stop Loss" is for those who went to see "Lions for Lambs", "In the Valley of Elah" etc. War dramas that nobody goes to see 'cause they're depressing [check out the box office grosses for them. it's true.] GI Joe will still be a hit. |

I don't think there's going to be anything serious about it, just a big summer action film. |
