JKK Rowling did the same thing with the Harry Potter novels, each one gets bigger, more in-depth (in terms of story, characterization, plot, intrique, etc..), and darker as the years go by.
I still think the newer 3 SW were more for the old fans and Lucas to tell his story. But the man is pretty smart at what he does, did it in a way that create a new set of fans as well as satisfing the old fans (okay, he didn't do that very well, but I think that has more to do with the old fans having decades to come up with their idea of what it should have been, there is no way that Lucas would have come up with a story that satisfied the old fans completely).

i know what you mean about brining new joe fans into the family circle.having two girls 7 and 3 when i brought the movie home it was the first time i never had to shush them or send them out.the older one is a coplete joe fan now and the 3yr old is truly a crack up when she bust out screaming cobbbrrraa.its fun to see how it brings me and my kids together as it did with me and my father backin the day

I gave my little nephews a Steelcrusher today ( Christmas comes early this year ) along with 5 new figures they can play with.
They were so thankfull that they asked me to play together with them, an opportunity I couldn't resist offcourse. Cobra won the day, but that's just because they outnumber the Joe's by 8 to 2. Later this week I'm taking my godchild ( who's birthday is next week ) to the toystore to choose a couple of figures he likes and maybe even an extra vehicle if he likes something. The most interesting was that they turned of their PS3, and started playing together with the stuff much to the delight of my brother's wife... Last edited by Daver; 12-21-2009 at 12:11 PM.. |

That's great to hear. My son who's 7 LOVED the movie and has a big Joe Xmas coming. (which is kinda like Xmas for me aswell lol)
I've gotten some 25th figs for myself, and they are a great blast from the past, but ....and I find it hard to believe I'm saying this...I kinda like my RoC figures better. They are great troop builders, and I've part swapped my Joes into one hardcore killer band of snakehunters. I think once I get them nailed down and organized with names I'll post some pics of them. I'm now an old man, and a vet and I find the RoC Joes a cool way to "make my own" Joe-verse. Where as the 25th figures will really always be "Hama's Joes", and as dear as they'll always be to me, I think I like writing the characters in my head now. When I went in to see RoC, I had already reconcilled that my sons Joe, wouldn't be "my" Joe. Any quality complaints, or disappointments I may have had with the movie are crushed by the fact that my son and I now share one of my most cherished things from my childhood. As much as I'll always think back fondly on those X-mas' from 82-85, after years of being away I think I'm ready to move into the next century with Joe, and that feels pretty good. I hope you have a great time sharing Joe with your nephews. -13

True. Pains me to say it but much of the references in ARAH are somewhat dated.

My sons ages 7 and 5, and my daughter age 2, all love G.I. Joe. They also LOVED the movie. The boys got a bunch of Joe stuff for Christmas, and they have been pretty much playing with it non-stop since it was opened 2 weeks ago.

Why does Troynos keep making new screen names and start threads like these? I know it's not Zef because he didn't show funny pictures where the kids turn out to be a couple lawn gnomes, so that leaves the only other RoC lover who's convinced me that they're a real person.
