I'd like to preface this thread by stating I enjoyed RoC.
Having just experienced Joe Con, and after listening to people that actually work for Hasbro, I'm left with the feeling that either Hasbro was disappointed with RoC, or that they feel like the fan base was, because it certainly seemed like their presentation of what we're in store for in the future is more in line with ARAH, and less in line with RoC. Almost like they read every debate thread from the Tank and sided with the opposition (to the movie). So, if you were at the con, and even if you weren't, what say you? |

I think the designers were. I think the suits pushed for stuff they didn't want/like.

on one hand, when you look at what the designers make on their own accord, like the 25th and POC, it is clear they prefer more vintage style representations and thus they probably were.
on the other hand, ROC clearly is very Sigma 6-ish, so where did the filmmakers get those ideas if Hasbro did not give it to them? perhaps the upper executives wanted a more Sigma 6 style movie but the designers did not. if that is the case, it is a real shame, because I don't think anyone would have minded if ROC looked like POC even if it was the same exact movie. |

And then there's the "fans" who call Hama a traitor/shill/puppet/stooge because he admitted enjoying it. |

I think Hasbro put way too much product on the shelves at one time. But they shouldn't delay the joe waves, each wave now is 3 months apart. I suppose they want everyone to get them.
But March 2011 for Shadow Tracker? I think they have waves ready to go and PoC is gonna be like 25th all over again. |

At Allen Hassenfeld's QnA session at the con on Friday, he said "We can do better," with respect to ROC and pointed at one of the movie guys who was there kinda jokingly. It was pretty evident from the designers all the way up to the former chairman of the board, that ROC was a disappointment. Some made this more clear than others, but it's not like anyone can outright say ROC was a complete failure. It wasn't. The thing made money, it moved product. It just could have been done a lot better, which was I felt Hassenfeld's statement was the perfect way to put it to the community.

I think Hasbro overall was pleased.
I don't think the design team was and understandably...what was there to design? Most of the line were just inturpretations of the film. Even if they wanted to add, most likely they were not allowed much leeway. |
