Because those are movie designs. With the exception of Star Wars, which is a completely different animal, what line continues with the movie designs after the movie has come and gone?
Didn't Transformers halt with the movie design figures until the 2nd movie came around again? RoC created the world of PoC. Just because we haven't seen them doesn't mean those designs won't pop up. Besides, the Desert Battle Ripcord is an A-Suit and the Desert Battle Heavy Duty looks to be wearing an RIA suit. Training Duke is pretty much straight out of the movie. Even back in the day, we saw the Vipers for 1 year and then weren't really seen again until the repaint years, they created new figures each year. So really, you want them to do nothing but repaints over and over?

That's what I'm asking.
They're already following the same model they did back in the 80s. We got the default Viper, Neo-Viper, and now they'll start doing the speciality Vipers, and we've already seen the Jungle-Viper and the Desert-Viper.

All of this talk about whether ROC was a "good" movie or not is ridiculous. When you're talking about a summer movie based on a TOY LINE and a somewhat corny 80's comic series and cartoon, how "good" it is should only be based on how much you enjoyed it. So a simple poll asking how many people either enjoyed or didn't enjoy it seems like a pretty acceptable way to judge its worth.
Personally, I did enjoy it. Alot. I saw no significant problems with the effects, acting, or writing and it was close enough to the source material to more than keep me happy. If you happened to notice problems big enough to keep you from enjoying the movie, then hey, that's you. I'm sorry you didn't get as much enjoyment out of it as I did. No one should be taking this any more seriously than that. |

It can't be, because it looks good. Hell no I don't want repaints of ROC stuff, but it really looks like the upcoming protos we've been seeing have little to do with ROC. There are a bunch of characters that were in the film, but not made- Dr. Mindbender, RIA Breaker, etc, why isn't Hasbro making them if the film changed the direction of Gi joe? |

It should be proven now to even the worst nay sayer - the movie was liked even if it wasn't "the ultimate gijoe experience" as we hoped it would be.

Shouldn't a $150 million dollar summer blockbuster be the ultimate GI Joe experience? There's just too many people willing to settle for garbage.

Take into account that the movie companies have their say (and we all know they are idiots) as well as the creative minds of other people want to re-invent and make it their own (aka Sommers and the writers) you get what we got. We should be thankful that we got a G.I.Joe movie at all, I could mention quite a few 80's cartoon shows or comics that have never seen the silver screen. |

Actually no it shouldn't, as it is competing in an ever bigger franchised world with labels that are far more successful then itself.

DC and Marvel face the same challenge of translating material intended for kids and comic book nerds to a larger audience, but they've managed to exceed expectations. Hasbro needs to take a page out of their book and trust better people with their properties. |
