Nah, I mean the the kid from 3rd rock as Cobra Comander was up there with Roy Schieder in JAWs...
Marlon Wayans as Ripcord?? Could be compared to Marlon Brando as Don Corleone... Actually I think the entire cast of ROC is going to be on Inside The Actors Studio....the acting wasnt bad..it was horrible, HORRIBLE!! I cant believe its even debateable! I cant get over the fact that people voted for this being a "great" movie!! Look, I f'ing love Star Wars but Phantom Menace wasnt good, it wasnt even ok, it sucked..plain and simple!! Im not gonna fake it and say I love G.I. Joe so I gotta defend ROC...quite the contrary! In fact Im pissed off that I have to admit it was borderline unwatchable! It had a corny, campy, elementary school feel to it..i.e. Fantastic 4, Ghost Rider....that kid friendly, overly cgi'd bullshit! If you enjoyed it, thats fine, Im happy for you. Because Im a fan, I'll even pay the 8 bucks to see if it redeems itself in a seqeul and give it the benefit of the doubt. But when you talk "great films"...I'm sorry I just dont see ROC as a great moment in American cinema. As far as people being pissed off it wasnt ARAH, I understand that argument on both sides. However to take something with a 25+ year history and put it on the big screen and say "here....this is what these guys reading on Larry Hama's every letter have been taking about"..is a joke. It isnt fair to the hardcore fans. Its obvious thats not what the movie wanted to do. If they did, it wouldve been ARAH not ROC. Now you have this movie pushing product....unless something amazing happens, I mean amazing along the lines of a good Hulk movie......ROC is here to stay, which is fine...just make it good. The movie is fodder for the toys... |

Wow pitviper! That was a mouthful! LOL! I totally respect your opinion. But [and there is a BUT], I don't fault the actors, I fault the writers and the filmakers (producers and director) for not taking this project serious enough. Sure Marlon Wayans is more know for comedic roles. But, I'm telling you; you have to watch him in Requiem For A Dream. He was outstanding. I fault the filmmakers for the flaws. If any of you remember, the movie was going to combine ARAH with Action Man! Talk about crazy. Two properties that never even existed together.

Easy for you to say. You just keep popping back in to take little jabs.
Make a point, or stay quiet. But those kind of comments are what derail these threads into spiteful bickering. Quote:

I recall watching TV a few days before ROC opened, and it was all ROC advertising, all the time.
Hasbro/Paramount bombarded society with ads for the rotten thing at an estimated cost of 150 million dollars. So yes, it was most likely the marketing machinery and hype that helped it escape from being a total disaster. Quote:
Before RoC, when people thought GI Joe, they thought of the ARAH toy line, and the comic. Maybe the 'toon. Nostalgia. Classic stuff. 80's stuff. Now they think of a poorly made, sloppy, generic action movie that will only be hot as long as Hasbro pumps huge dollars into advertising to kids. Quote:

I read people complaing about Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but have you seen Brick or even The Lookout. Levitt is a really good actor, but is more respected and recognized in the indie circuit. Now, I did read on here that sokmeone left other GIJoe related sites because of these so called "elitist". Yet, I see quite a few elitist here, who think their opinions are the only opinions that should be respected. Before I go any further, I want anyone reading to understand that I do respect the views of people on this site. However, it's tuff reading the "hate post". Sometimes I wonder if these people hate everything. LOL! The sad thing is, despite what these haters thought of ROC, I'm sure they'll be back in the theater seats if there is a sequel. If I don't think something is worth it, I won't waste money it.

I wake up in some strange places sometimes. Why not a movie theater? But seriously, I have no plans on seeing the next movie in the theater unless major changes are made. |

*It may be argued that Quaid was as wooden and corny as he was on purpose, to fit in with the rest of the movie. That's probably true. Quote:

Also, we don't hate everything. Just everything related to RoC (Paris Pursuit Snake-Eyes figure excluded). Quote:
Or maybe the sad thing is that members come in here, say they respect every opinion and criticize "elitists'" opinions , and then proceed to say how it's difficult to have to read a disagreeing opinion from their own, and that those who disagree but still see the sequel are "sad".

Some parts of it were fun, but the story and the characters seemed like a side story instead the focal point of a plot.
