As of right now, 89 out 191 people thought it was above average, I don't understand how the "lovers" see that as a majority win.

Do you count the 30 people who did not care. They cant be included as they have no opinion. so the poll would/could be spinned this way:
89 people liked it. 30 people do not have an opinion therefore are not a factor. 72 people did not like it. So what is the majority? Thats simple its the highest number......89. |

30 people do not simply "not have an opinion", they felt the movie was neither good, nor bad. In your little movie world, as you've said, studios want to know if the movie was good. Going by your statistic, and by the measurements you said studios go by to judge if people think the movie was good, it's about what percentage of people thought the movie was good. In this poll, that's less than 47%, 9% less than the absolute minimum threshold you stated. In other words, when judged by the measurement indicators you gave, the movie isn't good.

Thank you derek...... you are the prime example of someone so hell bent on winning this argument you will potentially say anything to win. Why? Why cant you either see or understand that the poll was written incorrectly?
And, you ignore the whole basis of my point which is the wording on the poll is tanited and that this argument can go either way all day and all night.............wait.........Oh my god it has gone on all day and all night. So Derek.......ONCE AGAIN............ if the poll was worded in a way that there was no room for error do you think we would have a winner. Furthermore, you cannot use the numbes for success I gave you as the poll was not worded correctly..... You do understand that, correct? For those numbers to be in play the wording has to be done correctly. ROC can never be proven to be good nor can it be proven to be bad, thats a fact. Regardless you are spinning again......... I said the Majority think its good, not that its good. That majority can be crazy as a loon but its still the majority.....Derek shall we debate the defintion of Majority next...........lol........... I kid, I kid my friend. Is ROC good, depends on the person. Does ROC have a decent score on IMDB........ at the higher end of Average, yes it does. DId it make money in theaters, you betcha.......300 million worth. DID ROC make money on DVD...........so far......DVD Sales, uhm $57,302,723.00 says it did. Is ROC an Oscar contender.......yes it is! 3 out of 3 polls done on the Tank says that the Majority of people liked it as opposed to did not like it............oh, including your poll! The Comment you made "In your little movie world" borders on insulting and we agreed in prior post to keep personal jabs to ourselves. I have sent you a PM dealing with this, thanks. Clearly, you misread the poll. Those 29 didn't say they had "no opinion either way", their opinion was simply that the movie wasn't good or bad, it just was.
Well, that kinda goes without saying, I'd think... But to your point, if the movie was as good as the RoC lovers want to say it was, there would be more people who said the movie was excellent than there would be people who said it was awful. But that's just not the case. And you're kinda proving my point anyway - those who didn't like the movie felt strongly that it sucked. Those who liked it mostly said it was just "pretty good", not excellent. Which really isn't much of an argument for RoC being a great movie. Your comparing the extreme negative to the extreme positive and claiming victory. It isn't hard for anyone to add up the positive votes, the negative votes, and discount the neutral votes and see what is obvious. The majority of Tankers who had an opinion of the movie one way or the other liked it. RoC lovers = Win; no matter how you spin it. |

Great point..... even though I would not say that IMDB score is horrible, average but not horrible....
Not to mention that there are hundreds of films I saw that I liked but do not give a crap about. A matter of fact the ROC haters and ROC lovers do care about ROC....... or we would not be debating it correct? but, we were not talking about that anyway. We were talking about Fans and how they vote. So Headman do you think Fans are more critical or not? How would you have worded a poll if given the chance? You are the 3rd ROC Hater who cannot answer that in a serious way....... why is that? I did answer it. I said Yes, fans are more critical in the sense that they are the only ones who had any expectations to begin with. The general public had no such expectations and whether they enjoyed it or not they have already forgotten about RoC. |
