With so many different interpretations of the various characters and a long history with multiple continuities it would be difficult to make a g.i. joe movie 100% of the fans would enjoy.

Deckard, I didn't mean Marlon should play stalker as he did ripcord, i meant that he should have played stalker as stalker. And i honestly i think he could have pulled it off. i've seen him act in a couple of his movies, well in a couple of scenes in a couple of his movies... okay, for a few seconds in a movie or two that would lead me to believe that he could pull it off.
and i have to believe that Stalker being from the street would never put ho's before bro's. But i think he still could have been Duke's right hand man. In fact i think it would have made more sense for their version of Duke to be carried on the back of a Soldier like Stalker. Which is normally the relationship between Junior Officer and NonCom. (that statement is based on 17 yrs in the Nav... enlisted) Then Duke could have had the attraction to Scarlett (not because he's white, but because that would have been the nod to both like in resolute.) I think most of us have pretty much settled into the idea that there is a bit of a love triangle there. and when it comes to a lady like Scarlett, to qoute Tim McGraw "what's not to love." But, Sunbow you are right, there are far to many different ideas to please everyone... but i definitely like some of the ideas being kicked around for a sequel on this thread and they would go a long way to help out some of 'my hurt feelings' if that was the direction it went next. I just can't help but think that if a general consensus could be given, even if its not used 100% at least we did something. So Omega, thanks for the thread man, you took a lot of grief in the beginning but i'm glad you did it. |

The problem with Zartan being PotUS is simple: he is too powerful. Why would he continue to listen to anyone, as he has the power of one of the largest armies and economies to back him up? DDP showed that family issues would create problems for any infiltrator (heck, watch the movie "Dave" to understand this!). Why not ignore CC (and Destro) and enjoy all the power for yourself? Thus, in the comic, CC took this upon himself.
No, Zartan, in order to follow some kind of continuity, has to get out of the office as soon as possible - with an explanation that his cover is about to blown. The pardon thing doesn't work - you don't just pardon someone, as they must be vetted by the FBI and the attorney general, not to mention it wouldn't hold up as it would bring suspicion on the office IMMEDIATELY. The MASS device is not a bad idea, but if they already had that in their inventory, why not use that on Joe headquarters? If it was in development, just wait for it to be done and then use it. My point was to give the movie a clean slate. I think this is the only way Sommers has an opportunity to prove that he has "seen the light". I wasn't plotting out the whole movie - just explaining how you can have all these movie story lines that Hasbro is creating over the next two years and come back to the movie and let an audience that has only seen RoC and be able to follow the plot. I really don't want an hour of "here's what has happened on our cartoon/comics/toy line background" and then try to make a story out of the final hour. It handcuffs everyone. Let the first 10 minutes catch up everyone, and move forward. But get out of this horrible movie ending that was so nice and tidy but creates some real problems for a sequel.

too many cooks in the kitchen... i never cease to be amazed by those who say they're tired of posts about one thing, but continually read these posts and feel they have to contribute their desire for these topics to desist. sorry, but some of us enjoy having ongoing discussions concerning these things, and it would be a huge help to all of us if you stayed out of where you didn't want to be. i swear to god, it's like listening to republicans and democrats argue sometimes. which is like listening to four year olds argue.

See, he said that in regards to the intricate relationships between multiple characters What he was saying is that the comic had multiple characters with intricate relationships, just like what they are doing with their movie. Now, did the movie have multiple characters with intertwined pasts? yes So they gave you exactly what they said they would give you |

Oh come on already. They failed and lied, stop wiping their mouths for them its embarrassing.
Highlight this part and take his advice there and "think about it": "If you think about what we're trying to do for G.I. Joe, really bringing back that '80s G.I. Joe from the Marvel comics — those first 155 issues are really our focus" The movie bore very little resemblance to the marvel series. Closest it came was with regards to SE and SS and even failed on that. |

Look, if you're not gonna read the whole quote...

I'm not trying to wipe anyone's mouth or be appologetic for the movie (BTW: I liked it, but thought it could have been better) but looking at the actual quote, it's obvious that he's trying to get his point across about the characters having intricate relationships. Now before we delve any deeper into this debate about who lied about the movie they were making, let's look back at the main topic of this thread ROC has been made, nothing we can do to change that, but maybe we can help the sequel be better by constructively pointing out what they could do with aspects of the story that has been started with ROC |
