I think we are assuming that it is not in there. We don't know......why, don't we know.............The movie is still be filmed. Not to mention Hama was attached after the rumored circulation of the script. Anything goes.
I bet when the movie comes out we are going to get our "A Real American Hero" shout out. It is obviously a team on now International soldiers led by a very American Military commander. We've all seen the pics of Hawk in a very American military outfit. |

I mean, it's not like it's a foreboding sign about the movie it's just a title to be printed on various merchandise. I mean look at when the the title for the Transformers movie came out, everybody started thinking that since they used the same font as the old title they would try to be very loyal to G1. You can only dissect something so far before your imagination starts filling in the blanks. I'm not really that into Transformers so I don't really know what you mean by "G1"? I have to assume you are talking about the first generation of Transformers? Please correct me if I am wrong? What I am getting at here is something WAY more important than being true to a storyline if that is what you meant then. :( |

WOW! Very hot topic, and I somewhat agree with esg2145. My thought is if you are a legal US citizen then you are an American. Be proud of the country you live in now. As far as the stripes not being in the logo, well you might as well change the name too. GI Joe = A Real AMERICAN Hero. Not an international world police orginization who saves peoples asses while they burn old glory. I'll leave it at that.

I don't buy that Hasbro doesn't want the military behind them.....come on! It was only a year ago that Transformers came out (A Hasbro Film) and they clearly modeled there transformers (decepticons) after some serious Military hardware. American vehicles, not Asian, Russian, whatever. They were American. And when you see the foreign sales $387,225,058 to the American sales $319,246,193 It is clearly an indication that America is where the money is at. GI Joe will get torn apart if they drop the American Angle...... it's not going to happen.

Riddle me this Batman -
Let's look at the core of it for those who think I am reading into it too far - Hasbro went out of their way in the early 80's to come up with Cobra, who we have been told was copied from the idea of "S.P.E.C.T.E.R." from the Bond films. Mainly I'm going to guess b/c at that time who were our REAL enemies in the world then? That's right, the USSR and communism. Had been that way at that time for about, oh 35 years or so. Now Hasbro KNEW they could not make the bad guys Rooskies as that would really p*ss some people off and rightly so, so they came up with the S.P.E.C.T.E.R. / Cobra idea as being the bad guys as to not upset anyone. Don't belive me? - http://www.yojoe.com/comics/joe/joe7.shtml Two words - " October Guard". See, they were our "friends" even before they really were, so no one got ticked off. BUT! (and now here's the point in all of this) Hasbro had NO problem at all putting "ARAH" all over the place and all over everything to show pride in the fact that this was an AMERICAN team that was fighting terrorism and that was OK then and they made plenty of money off of it too! Now here we are 25 years later and due to current events and the political climate it's just not as popular to do so. Well, look who's jumping off the Pro-American band wagon if all this non-red, white, and blue / ARAH title stuff turns out to be true, AND is gong to cash in on it AGAIN. So we'll make money off of being American when it's popular to do so, AND still make even more money off of it when it's not huh? :( Now do you get it? Yeah, I'm not so stupid that I don't already know that this is the way of world, but that doesn't mean I have to like it or accept either though. :( Eric |

i agree with Eric, and since day one of the mention of this movie long ago, it killed me that they wanted to take the American out of the JOE. i think HaSBRO needs to smartern up real quick if those shmucks think they are going to get by smoothly by leaving out that this was an American task force. G.I. JOE ...A REAL AMERICAN HERO !! forever, forget what Hollywood tells you. Last edited by OUTBACK; 02-25-2008 at 03:00 AM.. |

If they thought removing ARAH and the colors would increase foreign sales, they are idiots.
First, regardless of what Americans think, people around the world still love American icons, like GI Joe. Second, people who have issues with the US, many of which are Americans, will not see the movie anyway, so why try to appease them. Third, the national identity of the characters is trivial. By the time it gets to a non-English speaking country, it will be translated or dubbed into the local language anyway. Overseas audiences want to see the same thing US audiences want to see, special affects with BIG explosions and exciting action. Once the action starts, people in the audience will not care if the Joes are Scottish, Lebanese or from Mars. The movie is about a fictional American military unit fighting a fictional American terrorist organization. Please explain to me how that is offensive. Showing heroic Americans fighting Cobra is not a bad thing! |

G.I. JOE ...A REAL AMERICAN HERO !! forever, forget what Hollywood tells you. Anyway, I'm willing to bet money they incorporate it in a subtle way somehow. Most of the main characters are American anyway. The only thing non American thus far is Breaker, Heavy Duty(don't know what accent he's using)and that The Pit is located in Egypt(or so I've heard). So, like other things, I'll wait it out and see what happens. I won't be devastated if it's left out though. Last edited by copywrite; 02-25-2008 at 04:13 AM.. |

Let me get this straight, Having an "AMERICAN" special ops team is "FLAUNTING OUR POWER" give me a frickin break! If it wasn't for American special ops teams alot of those easily offended countries would not exist now or might even be under nazi control. It's funny how everyone is offended by the old red white and blue until they need our great men and women to pull their chestnuts out of the fire then who do they call. Gee imagine who it is. Real american hero's. Don't kid yourself the red white and blue stripes were removed from the logo for a reason and it had nothing to do with trying to make it look "sleak". Just like the pit is not based in the us and they said some tripe about how now one new it's true location when everyone who read the joe comics knows it was in the us.
