So what about for the fans of the line that grew up with Action Force? Or perhaps are fans to the north that had Canadian Flag stickers on their vehicles rather than Americas...shouldn't they be offended to?
1. We're getting a Joe movie - Yay!
2. We're getting a movie that's trying to steer away from bias - Yay!
3. Everyone will still have something to complain about - Yay!
Why yay to #3? Because the flag that everyone keeps on referring to doesn't need to be present in every aspect of life in order for me to know what it stands for and what right it gives me. The same God given right it gives "you", which apparently "you" appreciate whole hearted, as there's a friggin' 8 page thread about the movie logo, LOL! |
I agree with you man. I have bled red, white, and blue for this country every day. I served this country for 7 yrs and yet, i do not see why this is such a big deal. C.I.A.D. is right, we are getting a movie and there are still people who are going to complain, it is not what you want. Nothing will ever be perfect enough that everybody agrees. We should all be happy we are getting this movie and stop critiquing it every chance we get... |

Was the "America's" part of the "America's movable fighting man" part of the marketing originally? Of COURSE it was just like using ARAH in the early days of 80s was when we were still all hot and heavy with communism! In '64 they were still playing off of the pride of WWII, and we had not yet got in the horror publicly that would become Vietnam. That's part of the whole point of this thing -
The American part of it and having the red, white and blue in there is a significant part of it that has ALWAYS been there and therefore should REMAIN a part of it still! Especially when it's been used by Hasbro to cash in so much on!
That's the other side of why those of us who feel this way feel so strong about this whole thing! Sure the patriotism part of it is the bigger and more important part of it, but also not having Hasbro sell out on that now when they have used it for so long and made so much dough off of it is important too! It's part of the legend and part of GI Joe lore now, and it should STAY that way.
I am going to have agree disagree with all of you who either don't get it or don't feel this way, but that is what it is all about.
I for one want to see it in there, think it should stay in there, am happy we are getting and movie, and want to be proud of it too!
I just don't think I can be as happy though if the legend is changed around with that much (ala UN) and also know that I will not be able to be as proud of it either then.
JMHO, YMMV, my $0.02 -

It's funny how everyone is offended by the old red white and blue until they need our great men and women to pull their chestnuts out of the fire then who do they call. Gee imagine who it is. | Hey, I'm not the one who thinks this stuff about America, it's other people. I just go by what I hear. I think it's stupid to think that someone would think America is acting arrogant by making a movie about a special ops team protecting the world against terror, when that's sort of how it's going currently. That's just what some people think. Quote: |

Just remember to be thankful you have to freedom to say what you have said here once you get where ever you are going. You might not be so lucky there.
Maybe then you'll get it. :(
"America - love it or leave it"
Adios,
Eric | America's freedoms are complete bs thesedays. You can't say something without offending someone, which will most likely end up with you getting sued. That's what America is all about; if you don't get your way, sue someone. And it's not like I'm going to move to communist China or something.
