Having read the adaptation and viewed the film... it's clear that there were changes made as to the fate of the Baroness in regards to her nanomite implants. In the event of a sequel, I'm curious to know people's thoughts about where the Baroness' story should go now. Should she be in the sequel?
I would prefer it if the sequel would change her actions from having broken through the nanomite control due to "love" to her having been incarcerated as part of a bigger plan. I think having the source of her evil actions be simply nanomite control diminishes her role as a high-level operative within Cobra. Or what if given time to think over things she becomes 'angry at the world' and decides that cobra provides her with a way to act on that anger? I think she should operate on some kind of philosophy/ideology even if it's very much self-serving/semi-delusional. I guess essentially what I'm saying is that I'd rather have a Baroness with 'reasons' for being evil rather than leaving off with her simply being controlled. It allows for a more fleshed out character. That's my take, but what's everyone else thinking? |

if i just read your post correctly, i like your idea of her faking nanite control as part of a bigger plan that is developed in part 2...that would be delightfully evil...
...she pretends to overcome the faked nanite control (that turns out CC made up when he told Duke as part of the plan) with love and save Duke, knowing she will be put behind bars...but really, she is the evil b!tch we all know and love and her and CC have a plan for her to infiltrate Joe HQ, blah blah blah... |

Nevermind the nanomite control explanation... Sienna Miller's portrayal of Baroness was so terribly off that the only way my brain can justify it is to pretend she was Chameleon. The reall Baroness will be in the next movie and she won't need technology to make her sadistic! She'll just be out for revenge for being "replaced" and whoever plays the part in Part II will the hellacious bitch she's supposed to be.

Yeh Id love it if her getting taken to the Flagg and Destro and CC getting captured was all part of Cobras master plan.

I think CC could reprogram the nanomites to block her memories of Duke, but can't erase them.

I hope its all a trick, hopefully shes still very evil. In the sequel she should use Duke to escape along with CC and Destro.

Hmm,perhaps the conflicting emotions and artificial influence of the nanites could provoke a psychotic break accompanied with MPD...this could result in the "Baroness" persona being dominant and evil, a regressed "Ana" personality, and perhaps even a "Chameleon" personality which is like a combination of the two.
I like the Baroness as a character, but i preferred her comic personality like a woman scorned. I want her to have reasons to be bad, not just evil for evil's sake, because i guess i want a reason to like her and not just wish her a bullet to the brain. Tenken |

Yes, I certainly want EVIL Baroness again too. I really like your Idea of her Love For Duke returning all being fake. That actually makes more sense to me.
