My whole argument is that ROC's toy-line is a success right now and ROC is ART even if you do not like it...... You can manipulate what you want all day long but at the end of the day those are the only two points I have wanted to express. You can lie to yourself and pretend that the discussion didn't evolve on several points being that we ultimately agreed on several issues with the exception of ROC being a success right now....... but I am sure you punch a time-clock somewhere so big business would be hard for you to understand........That's a joke too. Mostly :-) You see I have a sense of humor as well.
anyway the ironic part is you are the one who is arguing with someone who you claim is not as intelligent as you. I guess the joke is you, I mean on you to even bother arguing! An intelligent superior person would have walked away a long time ago. As I will right now. I will let everyone re-read the posts and come to their own conclusions........ But keep in mind you said this: DEREK: "However, my judgement that the movie wasn't good stems from the fact that it simply wasn't, when measured by any objective artistic standards. I can understand lots of people making the argument that they enjoyed it for one reason or another. But I can't understand anyone saying it was a good film. It just wasn't." I called you out and you responded by saying this: DEREK: "You tell me by what kind of measurement RoC can be considered an artistic success, and we'll go from there." I AGAIN called you out about not being able to judge art and you said: DEREK: "To answer your question, I'm not out to define "art", or define art against something. " the funny thing is you asked me what measurements to define art only to flip flop and say you are now not out to define ART. and you have the audacity to say I am flip-flopping? Buddy, you need to get a clue on what you are saying. As far as short term goal........ do you have that disease like in the movie Memento and you forget what you say? This is your first post to me: DEREK: "If the toys are bought by the stores and don't sell, it's still not a success for Hasbro... it means lower quantity buys for future items and lines, and lower reorders. It's a short term gain, but can't be considered a success." You are the one who brought in Short term success not me! Then you claim I changed the debate to short term and long term success. Derek, my man get some help or at the very least look back a few pages before you accuse someone of doing something you clearly did. So either you are a liar or seriously confused. I don't think you are a liar........you seem to be confused. re-read the posts.... or maybe as I said before all this is lost in translation over the internet and several days of bickering? I left you the definition as a joke in hopes that you could study it and come back to debate properly but you still don't get it? So its hard for me to take someone serious when they don't know what a success is as you clearly do not...... you are after all the person who said "Raging Success" a term I am confident is not ever used in any economics class and or business! Anyway in all seriousness, once the conversation gets to insulting each-other its no longer fun.......all the smiley faces in the world cant hide your disrespect......but I don't have to tell you that you are a MOD! So can we agree to disagree in the general sense that we are not getting anywhere and being a MOD...(you).....do your job and put an end to this conversation and we both could move along as opposed to being disrespectful to each-other. So I am calling a TRUCE in the sense that neither one of us thinks the other is intelligent enough to get the others point but we are neither intelligent to move on......... TRUCE? Here are the updated numbers as of Friday:
Domestic: $147,650,365.00 Foreign: $149,737,914.00 Worldwide: $297,388,279.00 It is sitting at #188 on the all time domestic hauls. GI JOE is only $2,611,721.00 until we make it to the 300million mark. Getting closer.... I believe that Foreign Sales has surpassed Domestic sales for the first time. $48 million dollar profit without any DVD, toys, merchandise or marketing figures considered. |

Again, you're trying to twist what happened. I never asked you to define art. Ever. What I said was, "tell me by what standard you can consider RoC an artistic success". Or, in simpler terms, you tell me how RoC can be judged good. I never asked you whether RoC was art, that was something you brought into the debate, even though from the start, the actual debate assumed RoC was art from the beginning. Quote:

Let me break it down for you: Hasbro's success in securing large initial orders to not equate to the RoC toy line being a success. Quote:

We both know the meaning of the word, and how it's used in the English language, but you don't seem to understand that what we're doing is debating what success is for the RoC toy line. If you're confusing the two, it's you that just doesn't get it, not me. Quote:

Done.

Look you are a Mod, you are insulting me when all I am looking for is a lively debate. So whats it going to be? Do we continue to disagree again and again and again! I think you are wrong, I think you cannot understand what I am saying and I think you are kinda abusing your power now.... We have gone through this for four pages, three days and still have not gotten anywhere! Is that to hard for you to understand? I show you proof on what you said and you counter it by oh, you know that's not what I meant............
I was saying as a Mod if two people were getting into a debate and it was getting personal you would step in and say give it a break and walk away. They would have to do that or fear getting an infraction. Yet, you yourself cannot do that? You continue to attack when I continue to defend. I am not going to see it your way anytime soon..... So why bother? Lets just agree to walk away.........I don't want to do your job and end this pointless debate, especially when you are throwing in the insults in the name of good-natured ribbing.....so I am asking you to do your job and lets just cool our heals as this debate has gone nowhere! or........or we can start over and leave out the insults? As you being a Mod have an advantage on what you can say and not fear getting banned! I don't mind debating, but lets be fair here. So again, truce and we move on or not? Cause what are we debating here, we are debating now on how we define and deconstruct the others posts..... kinda pathetic isn't it? oh, yeah the quoting was way off on that last post....kinda hard to follow who was saying what. |
