Spoken by the man who Posts almost nine times a day with a total post count over 3,400 and counting not to mention an album with pages and pages of toys he has custominzed...(which I love by the way) but......LMAO.........yes I take this to seriously!!!!!
Now don'te get mad..... just in case you don't know - I am just teasing you.....that's sarcasm right back at you....... Seriously, I just didn't know if you knew that movies are not nominated for Emmy's. You obviously do and I lost out on the sarcasm.....lost in translation on my end.....my fault. Now I don't know what rock (no pun intended) you have been living under but Paramount is a movie studio not a toy company and their bottom line is to make a movie that makes money which it has done. Soooooooo, you are kinda wrong on the failure part. Now that is serious business! |

And that's just ridiculous. So what is your criteria of something being a success? Your opinion and your opinion only? You make no sense and you have no idea what you are talking about as evident in your silly post. Look, anyone that can or would try to argue the success of something based solely on their tastes is delusional....very sad. If you like it or not is a totally different entity. But you not liking something has little to do with its popularity and or success.
Now as far as it sucked..... It did to a certain degree and for those that like it still have issues with ROC.... But that's irrelevant in it being popular. As others have pointed out a film cannot make 300million world-wile and not have had an audience. Are you going to argue that as well? And just so you know there is not one post by me or anyone else that says you have to like it........ so I don't know why you would insinuate that -that has happened. As far as Hannah Montana, she is a very popular character so popular that you used her as an example which proves my WHOLE point. You don't have to like something to understand its popularity in the world. I love it when people prove me right with their own silly posts! |

[QUOTE=Rocky;1071955]Are you saying a sequel is proof positive that a film is a success because E.T., Titanic, Forrest Gump, Passion of The Christ all critical and financial success and have not spawned off sequels....... and those are films that are in the top 10 of all time! I know they are not films that lend itself to sequels but you cannot just throw out blank statements like that. Hell, The Dark Knight has not even been Green-lit for a sequel and it made a boat load of money.
===My point was that Paramount & Co. would not be moving forward (allegedly) with a sequel if they didn't deem ROC to be a success (in some form). I never stated that a movie without a sequel could not be a financial / critical successes and don't know where you could have gotten that from my initial state. My only mention of The Dark Knight was to state that the movie was successful but the toyline (IMHO) was a failure. Some previous poster (given the number of posts I read I don't recall who exactly it was) made a comment about how ROC toy sales are some how reflective or tied into whether or not ROC the movie was a success. IMHO that is an incorrect assumption or at least an unfair one. A movie can be "successful" but have a bad toy line and vice versa. As I stated previously, I don't think that Paramount cares about how successful the toyline nor is their decision whether or not to make a sequel tied to it. |

I agree that Paramount realy does not care how the toys do form a finacnial stand point but Hasbro does care. It is why Hasbro choose them and sold them the rights to make the movie. To help Hasbro sell toys and revicie the brand, it is that simple. That is not happening to Hasbro's expectations. Hasbro will not take that lightly and I am sure laid down some expectations that indicated Paramount needed to make this thing successful for the property and toy line. They needed Paramount to design and put a new image on GI JOE and look what we got. Paramount did not follow through on that and left Hasbro with another Indiana Jones Toy line and one of the greatest toys lines in a really bad place.
I really hope the sequal can turn that around, but I learned that lesson the hard with with ROC not to allow my expectations to ever be above medicore when it comes these types of movies for GI JOE....every again....

Lets hope either way that the next film rises above what we have already seen............. Doubt it...... at 300million worldwide in ticket sales not to mention toy, merchandise and DVD sales at the end of the day its going to be hard for anyone to say its not a success for Paramount and Hasbro.

The toy sales is debatable in their own right. I think the jury is still out on that particular issue.
