Ok,
another thing that stuck in my craw about the movie! The big battle at the end, why did the ice shelf sink? I know the movie is fiction and all but really! anyone that bought a soda before the movie knows that Ice Floats, even children! |

The explanation was that it contained construction (tunnels etc) but there were chunks falling that couldn't possibly have had anything in. Just a huge mistake and one of those 'turn your brain off' moments. (In reality the CG designers just cocked up) |

Ahhh, I've been waiting for something like this. I think it's a great idea for a thread, especially because the people who mistakenly wander into the Like or Hate threads seem hell-bent not on debate, but insult.
So I take to task, all of you who didn't like the movie: challenge my keen intellect and love of film I would say the reason I liked it is that it is an incredible realization of the cartoon into film, no small feat considering the post-Dark Knight wave of blockbusters that seem intent on making all things so unremittingly dour. GI Joe is fresh, optimistic, and full of good will. Refreshing. Yes, it is absolutely loaded with physics inadequacies and patently ridiculous inventiveness (ROBOT FISH). You know what else is? Play. When those who didn't like the film were younger, did you get out your natural science manuals before setting up your figures on the living room carpet? How wonderful for a film about toys to strive towards perfectly replicating the experience of play. Needed to explain why X and Y are fighting? Pretend some backstory. The movie does this to a Tee with its absurd flashbacks, cropping up to provide what totaled no more than five minutes of exposition in a movie loaded to the gills with inventive, physics-bending action. But that's what's so amazing about it! This is not a movie that strives for realism, this is a film that is trying to replicate a tangible experience, that I would hope we all had when we were young, free, and loaded with little plastic icons ^_^ In that sense, it's nigh-artistic. Every actor is geared towards maximum scenery-chewing, which I've always found just delightful. The only weak-link for me is Channing Tatum, who just didn't seem like he knew the kind of movie he was in. Shame. So, have at that strain of logic

Uh oh, a Gladiator Hater!
Ok, I have three 3 more questions for you, (I'm like a frigging Bridge Troll!) 1. Did you prefer CC'S new look to the one we grew up with? 2. Did you like the Baroness' new origin better than the original? 3. Did you like Destro's head actually turning metal? (I honestly can't even type that without chuckling) Do you think ROC improved on the Gi. Joe mythos in any way? I wasn't too impressed with Gladiator either. 2. Yes - and the Rex/CC part too. 3. Yes - similar to IDW (except it's his whole body). Nice and melodramatic |

i posted this in the like thread but felt i was right for this thread too
I just got back from the film. It was an absolutely awesome I didn't pick up any on plot holes, which i usually do in films past. I like the back story and history they gave be between the Baroness, Rex, Duke and Ripcord which i wasn't sure about before the film, but it work very well for this story and set up for some serious conflicted betrayal in the second film One thing that surprised me is how much I like the character Ripcord. He had his funny moments but he wasn't over the top and very likeable and respectable as character I didn't feel there was some stuff left out between Storm-Shadow's and Snake-eye's back story that may have been to do editing. I felt there was suppose to be a little more maybe we'll see that in second film. I not sure if Cover Girl is dead or not simply because the doctor that was treating Hawk said to Duke "they're in critical condition", however they didn't show who the other person the doctor was speaking of. I see why this film is doing good at the box office. I'll add to it later right know I got to eat
