I still enjoyed it though and seeing SE and SS matched up in battle was worth the ticket to me.

I'm just use to these kinds of movies. Pure dumb, loud and fun action. (But not the ones in the Sci-Fi channel)
I did feel nostalgic, I think that this movie has brought new fans into G.I. Joe. Since my age is close to the new generation, I'm ready to teach 'em to old and new Joe.

Pretty much the same can be said about RoC :P Quote:
The differences about why RoC HAS to be dfferent than the 80 stuff are many, and mostly based on culture and social factors. I can deal, understand, and respect if somebody didn't liked the movie. It's their point of view, and their taste. But saying "the movie sucks, you're a sheep feed by Hasbro's hand" is simply idiotic. Cos the same argument can be applied with every single movie made. Critics said "Gladiator is a masterpiece", and even granted an oscar to Russel. Riddley Scott is a great director, blah blah Personally i find Gladiator plain boring. For me: Russel C has the personality of an onion, and acted like one. The argument is absolutely weak. It pretends to be deep, and it's basically Street Fighter, with fancy filming and big words. The pacing of the movie is awful. You jump randomly to gory fast action, to looong parlaments that pretend more that they said. And i can say the same of Blade Runner. I don't like Ridley Scott as director. But that's just me, i'm not around insulting everyone else if they find their movies great. So, what's the deal with RoC? Pretty much the same than the 25th line: some "children" didn't get exactly what they want, just that. I've seen people complaining even of the rubbery hands, which are without doubt, the best improvement. Please, no more broken thumbs! What more can you ask? RoC doesn't make it for some, because it's not arah. well, duh, of course it's not. But it's still GI Joe at his fullest. Some details are changed yes, like pretty much every single other "line" inside the joes. But you still have Duke, Scarlett, good ninja/bad ninja, explosions, yelling and uber weapons. Basically: orange and apples. They look different, and you like it or not, but they're still fruit. Some eat it, some not. I don't go around saying that oranges suck without doubt. They ovbiously don't, because a lot other people likes them.

^^Good points M renegade. I believe some people just refuse to see things differently.
Moreover, I've seen bad acting from great producers...aka attack of the clones with Hayden Christenson(sp) and George Lucas or freaking Mark Walberg in M night shylamans...The happeneing. Brilliant award winning producers casting horrible acting. Hell even some of the cgi in phnatom menace, etc was aweful and this coming from the leader in CGI technology. Comparatively GIJOE ROC was not horrible in my opinion. |

Maybe.... or more than likely it will fade into oblivion like a hundred other sub-par movies that got so-so reviews and were mediocre at best. Street Fighter, Double Dragon, Mario Brothers, Mortal Kombat, etc, etc.... Quote:

I don't like Ridley Scott as director. But that's just me, i'm not around insulting everyone else if they find their movies great. Because, general consensus of Gladiator is that it was a great movie. Some people don't like it, most did. General consensus of RoC was that it was a mediocre movie. Some people liked it, most didn't. Those that did, thought it was "ok" and the majority of the people who enjoyed it either described it as good because it was "mindless fun" or "could have been better but was ok". Saying that you liked RoC and didn't like Gladiator is like me saying "Well look, I thought Double Dragon was a swell movie, but I didn't care much for Braveheart". It's just not helping your argument any. Quote:

Pretty much the same than the 25th line: some "children" didn't get exactly what they want, just that. I've seen people complaining even of the rubbery hands, which are without doubt, the best improvement. Please, no more broken thumbs! What more can you ask? I'm with you on the hands thing BTW, but that came about with the modern era, not with RoC. So even that you can't claim to your side! HAH! Quote:

Some details are changed yes, like pretty much every single other "line" inside the joes. But you still have Duke, Scarlett, good ninja/bad ninja, explosions, yelling and uber weapons. I suppose that's why most people want to compare it to the worst aspects of the cartoon, isn't it? I know this wasn't part of your argument, M, but it's worth pointing out: The RoC lovers are always and forever trying to get us haters to compare RoC to the worst aspects of the 80's cartoon. Doesn't that say something about the quality of a $170 million live action movie made in the 21st century, that in order to feel like a fair comparison it has to be compared to the worst aspects of a children's cartoon made 20 years ago?! Quote:
Here maybe this will make more sense to you: The cartoon was like an orange - some people just don't like oranges. The movie was like cow tongue. Sure, some people might enjoy it, but most of us, not so much.

Comparatively GIJOE ROC was not horrible in my opinion. Then again Mortal Kombat wasn't horrible when compared to Street Fighter either. Compared to any good movie, though, yeah, it sucks.
