Who the hell said anything about investment?
I bought it because I always loved Star Wars, been waiting years for the prequels, and I thought the movie would kick ass. It didn't, even Darth Maul, who looked so badass in the trailers, was a bit of a puss. Nowhere did I mention investment. Good day.

100% agree with you on this Quote:
GI JOE The Rise of Cobra at a Worldwide take of $300,723,641.00 is popular and for the first time broke through to Mainstream America!........
Debatable, unverifable, and can not be shown without media bias and company propoganda...as actual financial results are company private and confidential...so refer back to your previous statment and accept that you have no legitmate claim to stated factual or unfactual numbers presented here. Its always another excuse....They already had THOSE orders placed long before the sales went through or they would not have such a mass sitting in thier warehouses, shelves and distirbution centers! Go look at a TRU and look in thier TOP stock right now. The 4 I visted today had 4-5 boxes tall of wave 1-2 vehicles in top stock 4 wide! Another 5-10 boxes of Pits and 4-5 Boxes of waves 1-3 single carded figures...huh wonder why they can't sell enough of this crap to free up space, they needed room in their warehouses apparenlty so they have to stick all of the excess in top stock rofl...
Plus if your theory is right there would be tons of the next vehicle waves, wave 3 would not be cancelld and waves 4-5 would be shelf warming through the holidays since this product is already gone from current wave assortments available to the retailers at this point...unforutantley that is not even remotley close to reality... DO you really not pay attention? The first orderings, based on projections that it was a movie tie-in, those sold, which prompted them to order more. And that more didn't sell, there's no one argueing that fact. What people are saying is that because second round didn't sell doesn't make RoC a failure, it just means that someone overcompensated. And no, the theory wouldn't mean there would be tons of the next vehicles waves. How could there be if there are still alot on the shelves and there's a finite market? The people that are going to buy the Rockslide have already done so. There are no excuses, just simple common sense. It's really not that hard a concept to grasp. RoC was not a failure. It wasn't a huge success. You could say that too much sold too fast and prompted over ordering. That would be a good way to describe the issue we're having now. What that has to do with PoC? Really, not that much... If there's a cartoon, there will be PoC (or whatever the cartoon is based on, it's a pretty easy assumption to think it'll be PoC since thats the main direction of the toyline). If there's no cartoon, PoC will probably still show up, just not as quickly as originally thought/hoped.

CG, what is your definition of a successful GI Joe movie? What is the verifiable means that we as fans can use to determine its success? The toy is in its 5th wave, with revisions in the first 2 waves still out there, while Star Trek never got past its first wave of toys. Is that a definition of success? Does that mean Star Trek failed? Please define success for us so we can begin to have a discussion on a level playing field because every point, every number, every dollar amount doesn't seem to point to success for you.

So you are saying that if ROC is not verifiable then certainly any film on Box Office MoJo is or could be innacurate. So for all we know Howard the Duck is the highest grossing film in history and Titanic was a small art film that couldve been a contender as we do not have reliable information on what they made ouside of several internet postings!

Look, the only reason a person keeps something mounted on a card is either they are a collector or they are hoping it will be worth something one day. Most collectors collect without thought if the movie will be good; they are getting one of everything out of their love - regardless if the movie is good or not. I would have thought, as a collector, the value of a figure is how it looks, not if the character turns out well in the movie. That is why I thought you were an investor. Don't be so taken aback. You just aren't making sense in your argument for why a person would buy figures for a movie that they thought would be cool and then regret buying them if the movie isn't cool. Most people on here's point is that the figures weren't appealing, the vehicles weren't appealing, and both were too expensive. AND they didn't like the movie. I'm not hearing too much buyers remorse.
Seriously though, I kept them MOC because I wanted to collect them. Yes, I lot of the figures were looking pretty stupid, but I had faith in Mr. Lucas. I was wrong. Funny story- about a year ago, I was with my soon to be wife, we were in a toy isle, she looks at a Naboo Soldier and says- "Who's that douche bag?" It's the only time I ever heard use that word. |
